Just got home from a big family lunch and so haven't seen the Grand Prix or any of the football.
Come home and watching the end of the matches on BBC1 and looking forward to watching the highlights of thre race later and they scroll across on the feed the winner of the Grand Prix.

I've been at work all day, so missed the race.
When I finished work I walked into the corner shop and the lad in there was watching the TV, just at the point where there was a crowd pushing against the barrier looking up at the podium.
I put my hands over my ears and walked round the shop. He's a canny lad and a bit of a petrol head too, so he turned the sound off on the telly for me!

With F1 it's just
'MALDONADO won today's F1 GP in Spain...' No chance even to stick your fingers in your ears or go 'La la la' loudly. First word, bosh, wrecked.
Well, they blurted out the Man City V' QPR result on Radio 2 as the MAIN headline in their 4.00 pm news bulletin. So, if anyone wants to avoid footie results today, avoid the TV and radio news too. You will get no warning.With F1 it's just

I have no idea which football teams were even playing this weekend, and am aware of which team (via someone's comments on facebook) won the grand prix but not which driver. It's actually a lot easier to avoid than you think.Edited by RizzoTheRat on Monday 14th May 11:13

I don't follow football at all but I know which teams were playing this weekend and I was out for the count in bed with flu for most of it, what on earth were you doing?! 
I've watched some TV, listened to the radio, read the news on the BBC website, but just not looked at sport stuff.
To be fair though I can see the OP being a bit pissed off, there must be quite a few people who are interested in both the football and the F1 and are therefore recording one while watching the other, so showing the results of the other event is a little harsh.

Which has become a joke as they then proceed to read them out anyway.They need to say "If you don't want the know the results, look away now AND cover your ears" (for how long, they probably wouldn't say

I managed for 24 hours once. I've got to go to a f*&(*(& farmers country fair next Sunday so have to survive until the evening before I can watch Monaco. I make sure radio is off in the car when I park up in case it comes to life at just the wrong moment. I make sure the TV is on a channel that won't show anything to do with F1 or News when I switch it on. I don't even look at a computer or my iphone.
Although on the radio this morning, they probably did 9 of the 10 minutes news bulletin on bloody football, then only mentioned in the last 30 secs who was leading the F1 championship.
Not a peep about who had won the race, nor about the fire in the pits.
