Although Gary Oldman should be good, you just know it will be a CGI nightmare.

Not sure why people feel the need to remake verhoven classics.
Because Hollywood has lacked any creative talent for a long long time, and insist on re-hashing classic franchises in order to make a quick buck. Not sure why people feel the need to remake verhoven classics.
Sometimes, we get a decent film cropping through.......but the vast majority of films these days aren't worth the Byte space they are programmed on

Dont know what all the fuss is about personally. Its not like they are talking about remaking a genuine classic like Blade Runner for eample.
Both RC and Total Recall are nothing more than fairly trashy action flicks. Dot get me wrong, I like them both but re-doing them for a new generation of movie goers makes sense and doesnt offend me in any way.

I'm not so sure. Total Recall (and certainly the book it's based on) raises some fairly interesting questions about perceived reality and memory, and I read a very well-reasoned article in New Scientist just after RoboCop came out that discussed how the film was a metaphor for man's attempt to regain his humanity in the face of depersonalisation by technology. Obviously if you only look at them superficially they probably are 'nothing more than fairly trashy action flicks', as you say.
(Actually, the re-imagining of Total Recall is looking very promising. I'm quite looking forward to it.)
Robocop is a modern classic.
Will the remake have that violence? The original is/was quite a shocker.

...trying to think of the last 'remake' I thought added anything to the story...or even liked.
Not sure that reboots of decades established characters (like Batman count).

As you say, Robocop has a lot going for it, it's just just an ultra violent beat em-up.Will the remake have that violence? The original is/was quite a shocker.

Good grief. Why? Why does everything have to be either a remake, sequel, prequel or comic book adaptation these days?
I don't mind the comic book ones.

Well, given the film was an 18, that's not wholly surprising.
