George from Cyprus

I`m guessing that its got something to do with the fact that Mike, being the streetwise car dealer he is, receives an email from "George" from Cyprus stating he will give him £12k for it.
£2k now and the rest in cash when he comes to London.
Nothing wrong with that bit.
Then "George" proceeds to ask Mike for his banking details !!
Not saying its not all above board but would you pass on your banking details to a stranger who contacted you by email.
I did think at the time it looked a bit dodgy, but Mike appeared over the moon.

And then proceeds to "wire" Mike £5000 and kindly asks him to wire back the £3000 before he collects £2k now and the rest in cash when he comes to London.

2 odd coincidences, I had that one on the sky planner for weeks and just watched it an hour ago, it made me chuckle too that he could only "sell" it like that, 2nd coincidence is George emailed me to buy the last two motors I was selling too,he must have quite a fleet!Pissed myself at the end when Mike showed us the email

So you could - and I know this is illegal - use a little bank account with nothing in it and no overdraft facility to take Georgie Boy's gesture of goodwill and then just stop all communication.

No, because the check george sends you will never clear. Thats the thing, they use checks from banks in the hills of afghanistan which takes WEEKS to clear (which it wont), in the meantime you are asked to send back the amount he sent by mistake or whatever, this goes way faster of cource.

Bit of an old thread at this stage, but this episode was on Discovery Turbo tonight. The car never went to Cyprus of course, but it was sold to a guy in the UK. I remember it being active on a G-Wagen forum a couple of years ago where the owner was considering selling it.
A few of the wheeler dealer cars are 'sold' to crew members acting as members of the public, but treat it like the entertainment programme it is. The 'deception' is harmless.
