Why didn't he just replace the distributor cap, leads, rotor arm etc?

He also said that the rotor arm spins at crankshaft speed. No, it spins at camshaft speed which is half crankshaft speed!

One of the most appalling pieces of crap that has ever been shown on TV in the name of classic car restoration. Utter rubbish which does nothing for the cause.

I'm currently watching Wheeler Dealers & the BMW 635 CSI that the did. At least Mr China doesn't bodge, bullst & tell porkies. Unlike Bernie & his clueless 'expert' sidekick.

Its a jumble. The in-car shots were a manual 8 Series, and he arrives in an E46 3 Series. For a programme aimed at car geeks, that's pretty patronising.

It's a very rare 850 CSI manual, his reg is NKX3. Very nice and super rare.

I watched this earlier after seeing the thread on here, what an utter load of dross, makes Brewer and China look like the best TV ever. And someone needs to smack Bernie very hard, such a condescending tt.

Put down the anoraks lads, some of us quite liked it.

It was 45 minutes of classic Porsche content on a Thursday night, just after dinnertime. Plenty of lovely stock footage of 911s being flung around the place.

It's been made for a much wider audience both geographically and in levels of petrolheadedness. Hence explaining everything, and North American style recaps after ever ad break slot.

They never said they were doing a 100% concours resto on the car, that's outside the budget and scope of the show.

Were it not for the show, that 911 would still be rotting under a tarp in Greater Suburbia.

They undid some fairly bodgy repairs, replaced a lot of the interior, and sorted the electronics.

So what if they used 70s orange paint and cookie cutter wheels? It's a classic look, one which is instantly recognisable, even if it's not appreciated by the Porsche cognoscenti around these parts.
