As a big fan of F1 Grand Prix's for more than 50 years, ive been thinking what are the choices for viewing on TV in 2013 ?
I luv watching the GP's on BBC1 & their excellent "Red Button" coverage. Sky coverage? Well I saw the Japanese race on Sky at my local pub.
What a amateur show that was !! The commentators were diabolical.
Does anyone know about next season ?

I think Sky's race coverage is far superior than the BBC however, Jake, David & Eddie are superb.

Jake leaves the Beeb at the end of the year so it's likely to be lee Mckenzie doing his role next year. I thought sky's commentators weren't as good in the same way as jake etc but the race commentary in my view is better. That's the value of Brundle.

I like the Sky stuff but wish they'd replace Georgie Thompson with some one a bit fresher. She's obviously only there for eye candy and she's a bit past her best these days.

Another thread about sky vs BBC? Great. I genuinely do not see much difference between the 2. How many people take their preconceptions into the coverage? If you want to watch F1, do so, but turning the whole thing into an us vs them situation seems very 'daily mail'.

Thank you for the info/observations P/Hers. I wasnt sure if the BBC were covering the Grand Prix season at all. Im glad they are. I agree Martin Brundle is the only Sky F1 person of note. Thats why I watch it on BBC if I can. I luv the input/ humour from DC, EJ etc. Also Ben Edwards is doing a great job as main race commentator.

Yes, and lets be honest as far as eye candy goes she aint that hot.

As was mentioned above Brundle carries Sky. I also like the 5.1 surround that only Sky offer.

Think Lazenby should be replaced. Jake always gave the impression of being both very knowledgeable and very interested in F1, whereas Lazenby doesn't. Of course, he can learn as he goes but if you just don't care then you wont.

Sky v BBC has been done to death, and most people have found which camp they prefer.

I prefer the BBC, but will watch Sky when they're exclusive.

The only thing I'm bothered about 2013 is Sky not shifting the F1 channel onto some super expensive 'sports pack' with a lot of football and golf I will never watch, I don't think anyone would put it past them.

Have the BBC confirmed that they are actually covering the races in the same type of format as this year?

I think they're committed to this format for the next 6 years, give or take a year.

As if. I'm sure Sky will keep it free to HD subscrib....rofl

Nearly got to the end of the sentence without laughing.

I've got access to it on Sky and BBC and never bother with Sky's coverage, even for the exclusive races. As above, other than Brundle the whole thing seems extremely amateurish to me.

Lazenby is an absolute shocker of a presenter, and Georgie looks like she needs sanding.
