Loved the show but what was his time? It looked reasonably committed for a no helmet ad fires hit attempt so come on someone must have the time and what the average speed.

I'm guessing north of the Vitesse of Tony Pond but some way off the proper attempt last year.

That seems to suggest 20 mins which would be 113mph but it could also mean 20mins 59seconds of so it would be 108mph
Both times beating Tony Pinds 2.7ltr v6 Rocer Vitesse and it only has 200hp... So no barnstormer of a power unit and also as stated in OP no fire suit or helmet so not 10/10ths but interesting none the less

I was there for it, believe me guys this was a parade lap...nothing like the way it was edited together.

The group of Journalist cars were lead round by a silver Subaru...each journalist was slowing to a crawl before interesting sections to allow each car a brief clear blast (for their own cameras) before catching up with the lead car.

If it matters It took the group about 25-30mins to get round all in all iirc.

The BRZs did sound good though ears

They would not have beaten Pond's time.

Why not?
More power better chassis lower COG better brakes and tyres.

The 627i Vitesse 174bhp is hardly the best tool for the job.

Maybe, but Tony Pond was a pretty handy rally driver who was both an IOM resident and multiple winner of the Manx International...

He is by far nowhere near the best driver in the world he would have initial benefit of local knowledge of the track but racing drivers used to race the combined north and south loop of The Ring rather tab the very short 13odd mile it has today.

But ignore the driver fact is one car is better and faster than the other so it would get a better time

I would suggest Tony Pond was one of the best drivers in the world.

He would have been world rally champion for sure if he didn't insist on only driving RHD Cars.

But the driver will be the single biggest influence on speed, and no ordinary driver will get anywhere near a good competition driver.

Just read the 'article'. If Higgins had been 'on it', the other drivers would never have seen him again on that lap..

I'm not so sure on some F1 quali laps there is barely 0.5 seconds difference over 4.3 miles

Heck this years Bathurst after 6 hours of on it racing there was 0.3 seconds between 1st and 2nd and no they were not same team they battled all the way.
Ditto Le Mans 2011 a classic with 2 seconds after 24 hours of flat out quali pace.

I'd conclude there isn't too much in it but if you have a poor car vans poor set up yep that will make a big difference.

The v8's hit 330km/h from the hairpin to the tight S that's not a huge length so the fast cars will hit the big speeds brake later carry higher arrange speed round a bend

If its between 25-30 mins then average speed is 75-91mph that's going some to average that on a road they have never driven on even with the odd burst to 120mph its still on it to a certain degree

If they did it in 25 mins then by finding 120seconds over 37odd miles they would up the average speed to 99mph given they were not really on it that's an easy amount of time to clear over that distance.

Heck I'd go as far to say 180 seconds could be wiped off the time and beyond that it might be beyond the abilities of the vehicle.
