This might be of limited interest but I was shocked to switch on Danny Baker's show to find out his dimwit bosses are giving him the boot. He found out just before today's show and has decided to leave as of this afternoon.

To say he hasn't taken it lying down would be an understatement.

If anyone wants to hear the show I guess it will be on the iplayer as of tomorrow.

GLR used to be fantastic, it's been going downhill for years since the rebranding and Danny's show is the only thing on the station I have listened to for a very long time.

Sad news.

Use to love Danny Bakers sunday morning show on R1 back in the 90's. Got a lot of respect for the man.

It's a really bad decision. Rob Brydon summed it up brilliantly. "Glad that BBC are axing Danny Baker's daily radio show. I've had it up to here with his wit, warmth and originality."

I expect it'll be replaced with someone who fits in to the BBC better, and become humourless and dull. Does Matt Baker have a radio show?

I emailed LBC.

Me: Get Danny Baker!
LBC: I know!

We can but hope. smile

Worst decision of a great many bad decisions that are going on across the BBC at the minute (and I don't mean Saville and co).
The best, most original broadcaster there is and they manage to fk it up? What is going on?

Love it when I catch his show on a Saturday, he's about the last entertaining presenter going. Simon Mayo is about the only other person I can think of who really has a great show at the moment.

Used to love the breakfast show he did on BBC London - didn't mind being stuck on the M25 when listening to that.

Yes, that's when I first enjoyed his work too.

Ironically he took over from DLT, who had a minor hissy fit on air when he found out he was getting sacked.

BBC London has been "blanding up" for ages. I stopped listening when they axed DJ Ritu's "World in London" - it was my favourite radio show - and I'm a radio obsessive.

First song Radio Gaga mixed with the sound of bridges burning.

The vitriol begins around 7.30

Bloody disgrace - Danny is quite simply to most inclusive & original broadcaster around... Hope he still keeps his other BBC show at the weekends?

What an odd post. Why is this good news for you? Do you listen to London broadcasts exclusively (from the other side of the world)? Or do you just luxuriate in Schadenfreude?

"English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling opsimath and eremite, feudal still, reactionary Rawlinson End."
Why would you axe one of the most innovative, entertaining and imaginative broadcasters of the last twenty years?

A monumentally stupid decision by the BBC.

I only listen to BBC London for the Danny Baker show, started with the morning show and then followed him to the afternoon.

Clearly ratings do not seem to be uppermost in management's mind.
