I've noticed SKY bigging up their intended coverage of the new F1 season - have they got totally exclusive coverage now?

BBC will have similar coverage to 2012. Approximately half the races covered live .

Nope, same as last year, Beeb will be covering the "premium" races live and the rest as highlights.

Lol Premium its a joke watching elements of the championship. Watch the entire season or not at all.

One suspects Sky's offering didn't bring in the additional subscriptions and viewing figures they projected when they took the contract on so are bigging-it-up this year.

Overwhelming majority of those who can access Sky F1 get it included with HD package yet seem to be choosing not to bother. Sky have got a problem now if they try to boost revenue by making it subs only.

Sky promotion this year isn't any different to last year.

Did anybody watch that though? It was boring enough reading the BBC live text.

For me, watching cars going around in circles is a bit pointless without context. Imagine if you turned on the TV to find the F1 on. whatever session it was had already started and the cars were moving around the track. There's no commentary, and no on-screen graphics to tell you positions.

What's going on? you have no clue. And watching the test would be a bit like that. Nobody knows whether cars are going fast or slow on purpose. The most interesting thing has been listening to Gary Anderson mumble in the evenings.

I moved house and re did my sky, so i could be wrong, but i'm sure Sky have changed the channel that F1 is on, and renamed it 'Sky Sports F1'

If I'm not being paranoid, I suspect this is so it'll be an extra subscription from the 2014 season

Apparently new subscribers to Sky HD no longer get the F1 channel but instead have to sign up to the full sports package. Existing HD subscribers carry on as usual for the foreseable future, probably 2018 when the BBC completly ditches live F1 coverage.

Not according to their website: http://www.sky.com/products/ways-to-watch/sky-plus...

F1 channel shown clearly in the Sports section, if you click on it it says "Sky Sports F1™ HD is available at no extra cost with the HD Pack. "

Except that the season opener and Monaco aren't live http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/17238688

I'd say either count as premium races in my view.

I'm an F1 fan and have had sky for over ten years (full package). Not once have I had to pay te full price just negotiate with them.

Any way it justifies sky even more for me smile

Sky's & BBC's offering is the same as last year AFAIK, few races might have changed in terms of being live on BBC.

It can't be long till they change the packages to shift the F1 onto one of the expensive sports packages though, in told when they got the premiership rights it started reasonably cheap and got steadily more arseraping over the years.

Going to miss Jake this year!

It's a lot if you only like F1 and have no interest in other sports!
