Storage hunters

its like a sore tooth you cant help put touch it, i just cant switch off....
For the good folk who have better things to do with their time, Americans go to dock companies and bid on storage containers that were insurance write-offs at the dockside.
Some have visible contents so you know what you are bidding on, others are just full of unidentifiable boxes. Last night there was a Tesla Roadster in a container hidden by a panel, cant remember how much the winning bid was but they didnt know what was behind the panel.
In another container, which went for about $30k, hundreds of blank cardboard boxes contained nothing but silicone wristbands...

I've watched this a few times but it's a bit annoying the way they try to make a drama out of every auction, like there's almost a fight going on. I preferred "New Auction Hunters", identical in almost every respect but followed just two blokes that buy stuff, then sell it, always making a massive profit. Less annoying.
I prefer this one:

Salvage hunters... excellent program

Ton & Allen, the two actors paid to play the parts of auction hunters? - http://www.westcoasttruth.com/spike-tvs-auction-hu...Allen Haff - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0353105/?ref_=fn_al_nm_...
Clinton Jones - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1594316/?ref_=fn_al_nm_...
All these programmes are contrived.

I'm sure there is a little bit of tv magic but the blogger who's site you linked to is a prize knob and to call Allen and Ton just actors is a little weak. Of course the have IMDB entries, theyre on the telly.Allen Haff - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0353105/?ref_=fn_al_nm_...

Regardless its easy entertainment.
Well, no surprise there. I view it as the first of these, with the others as copyers, but that's only because I saw it first and the others appeared later, there may be no basis in fact (before you all pick me up on it).
I like Salvage Hunter, but I think the latest series has a few too many 'asides to the camera' and 'recaps', it's like there isn't quite enough material so they have to pad it a bit more than the previous series.

Know what you mean. I think once most programmes gain in popularity more of what would previously have been edited out gets put in, saving on more material being needed to fill an hour, can only presume saves on production costs.I like Salvage Hunter, but I think the latest series has a few too many 'asides to the camera' and 'recaps', it's like there isn't quite enough material so they have to pad it a bit more than the previous series.

Also watch the Drew Pritchard programme but can't help thinking what would happen if one of his customers see the show and notice those light he got £40 for were sold for £175 after a quick wash and rewire. Their loss I suppose.
Same for all of these kind of programme though - I watched Antiques Road Trip or something like that, because it was quite local, watched them go into all these places I know and bid down by as much as 75% and get the item, then flog it for a profit. Although I notice they've started using 'go on, I've got to make a profit on it' as an argument to get a discount much more than they used to.pablo said:

Just you and me then Pablo. I am utterly addicted and the rest of them can go off and watch their 'better' programmes. For the good folk who have better things to do with their time, Americans go to dock companies and bid on storage containers that were insurance write-offs at the dockside.

Interesting thread on the tesla owners site about the car in questions though I think as amateur sleuths we do a better job here!..

£26.5k for the Tesla I believe it was.My recording messed up last night - how much did they pay for the Tesla?
Although it was pretty fake looking to me. This container had been sitting for weeks/months I presume (owner not paid for a while hence the auction) but at the end they jumped into the car in the newly opened container and just drove off.....
How much battery would be left then?
i love all these kind of programmes, storage hunters, storage wars and the new on shipping wars is really good if you get chance to watch it!
Has anyone seen that Hollywood Treasure yet? Can't remember which channel it is on but tha quite good also.
The only thing i'm not keen on with storage hunters is Brandon and (sp) Lorrie? miserable pair of so and so's! Proper trailer trash too!

I did see that program I didn't feel sorry for the guy buying the wrist and head bands that much! It is always a gamble that type of bidding and they were all in the face on earlier bidding! The couple who got the Tesla did the research before hand and deserved it!
I have only seen 1 Tesla on the road! Not bad car just need a technology change on the batteries then elec cars will be the way forward!

I'm just watching it at the minute. So far this episode there has been a '52 Chevy pickup with a smallblock in it, surrounded by tools, in one lockup. Another lockup was a survivalist nutter's zombie apocalypse base full of guns, and a further bin was a geologist's workshop full of amethist geode.
Obviously some very good pickings for the people that bid on and win them. But seriously, who the f
k puts stuff that valuable in a storage lockup, then stops paying the lockup site long enough to get it reposessed? You'd think they would at least move as much stuff out as possible before it got seized. Talk about weird priorities

Having seen what's in some of them, maybe they've been imprisoned, or taken somewhere and buried in the countryside.
