Now then, film fans!

I remember seeing a French comedy film (black comedy) in the late 70s. It was on late at night and was dubbed in English. I haven't the vaguest idea of its title, so here are the clues...

  • Late 1960s/early 1970s contemporary.
  • Featured a French actor with a 'lived-in' face. Quite possibly Yves Montand
  • Had one of these in it. Sand-coloured Citroen Mehari that got rolled, by the seaside IIRC

And some plot events (funny)...

Hero hides on the top of motor caravan. Baddies put garage lights on - one bulb is touching him. Baddies leave. Hero falls through m/home roof into bath tub. Has 'Mazda' printed/burnt onto his bot.

Hero running away through a hospital. Runs through operating theatre, accidentally treads on op table pedal. Patient is slammed against the wall, slides down leaving bloodsmear trail.

Hero nicks a hearse to escape. Slams on brakes at traffic lights.Corpse's feet push end out of coffin, feet end up on inside of windscreen.

You get the idea, sort of James Bond pisstake with a wicked sense of humour.

Will anyone find it?

That looks like it. It accords with the IMCDb page, and I vaguely recall the beach buggy and the rally Renault.

Now I only need to find a copy...maybe on Vuze.

Thanks v. much Twig. And Tycho - great idea to track from the star cars! Might work for your search, vixen1700

Close but no cigar, I regret to say. I downloaded a copy from Vuze...can't play it properly as its Blu-Ray. But I've
been able to stutter my way through it at speed.

Very similar in terms of locations, vehicles, point in time, buildings, fashions, etc, etc but it isn't the one.

I refer the question to my learned friends...
