He has a new film which comes out this year, most details are being kept secret but it's a Sci-Fi film supposedly about time travel.

Trailer: http://youtu.be/3WzHXI5HizQ

One of my favourite directors so I expect good things, Inception remains one of my favourite films and this seems to be along the same lines with regards to it being not your usual Hollywood plot line.

Well, that didn't tell me anything at all. Hope the film delivers more. It's about time we had an awesome sci-fi film that stands alone without political agenda or (worse) one which rushes to close the story off unsatisfactorily.

I have tremendous hope for this.

Listen carefully to the dialogue and you can see that the theme is the distortion of time due to speed and the sacrifice of the father-daughter bond because of it.

It's kind of obvious, but:
The trailer shows the daughter both prior to his departure and as an older woman, stuck on the farm while he travels. The father knows he's not coming back. Not during his daughter's life, at least. And he's trying to protect the younger version of her from that realising that before he leaves.

Plus, the dialogue:

Daughter: "[unintelligible] when are you coming back?"
Father: "I'm coming back."

Father: "I have a family."

Caine: "We must reach far beyond our own lifespans."

Father: "Murph, I love you. Forever."

Me likey. I reckon even Matthew Mahogany can't ruin a tale about near light speed travel time dilation effect. smile

I was at school with Chris N and we played rugby together for two years....a top guy, an interesting character and a man who really knows his business and craft...

This film should be excellent.....

Latest trailer (#3) gives a bit more of the premise away. Search it out if you haven't seen it (or don't if you'd rather stay in the dark!).

Definitely a film I've been looking forward to for the past 12 months! Hope it doesn't disappoint!

I love what we've seen of the technology in it so far. It reminds me of some of the brutalist representations from the late seventies e.g. Demon Seed, the Russian original Solaris.

Rumoured 3 hour running time, though
I hope it sustains its focus...
