Police Interceptors tonight
Discussion
Did anybody watch this tonight when the copper came up behind the Volvo on the slip road onto the dual carriageway?
The Volvo moved across at the end of the slip road kind of blocking the police car as they entered the dual carraigeway. The copper went straight into the outside lane of the dual carriageway. I do think these two lane slip roads can lead to problems if people enter the main road in the outside slip road lane alongside another car.
Did the copper drive a little too fast and therefore it appeared aggressive to another road user? This was an unmarked BMW 5 series...
Anybody else have an opinion? Could it be argued the other bloke was being defensive? The copper seemed to think he could drive how he liked because he'd been on a 4 week training course.

Discussed on the last page of this (admittedly incorrect!) thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I'm pleased this was mentioned.I think the cop was going to overtake him before he even got to slip road but backed off when he realised he was getting too close to the slip, he was driving too fast, especially considering he was only going to do a random stop on a bus, there was no emergency to warrant the speed. The Volvo driver got reported for two offences, mainly because he gave him some back chat. I hope the policeman seen himself on the programme, he didn't learn much on his 4 week advanced driving course by the looks of things.I wonder if the Volvo driver seen it?
I'm not anti Police, but on this occasion in my view pressing on as he was, as the lanes were merging, the Police Car was driving quite aggressively. If it's marked then he'd get an allowance. In an unmarked Audi he appears to be just another aggressive Audi driver, and perhaps should have realised the impression he was creating and taking the bigger picture approach.
As it was they both looked fairly small minded IMO.

It was an umarked BMW, but apart from that I agree. As it was they both looked fairly small minded IMO.
Slip seems to go to one lane before merging, doesn't look like the best road design ever.
Hope the link works, not sure how to do the short ones on the new google maps.

I saw this as an unnecessary aggressive overtake at the end of the slip road.
The drivers reaction was probably uncalled for, but understandable.
The coppers attitude was appalling, if his 4 week course is so great, then he should not have been there, it was very easily avoidable and predictable.
Judging but the lack of verbal follow uo on the programme, i suspect the charges where dropped, one showing of the initial video in court would have probably killed the case stone dead.
Classic case if arrogant pc with attitude problem.

I often get peaor trying to come up the inside of me on slips. I know it'll get dangerous because they will accelerate past and jump into the outside lane. Fine with me but not so for the car minding their own business in the outside lane!
That Volvo driver did indicate and was driving defensively.
(I had a three day course* so can comment.)

I've yet to see it? Was he playing up for the cameras?
Don't think so. He was angry and I'm pretty sure his ego had been damaged because the Volvo driver dissed him. Maybe he knew he was in the wrong but it'd got so far along he couldn't back out. So yes, maybe the camera did have some influence.

The copper was in the wrong and was looking for something before he made it to inspect the coach.
There was no room for him to pass on that sliproad.
I hope his superiors saw that last night and pull him in.
I would be kind of surprised if the powers that be did not have some kind of editorial control on what is broadcast to start with? There was no room for him to pass on that sliproad.

given that clip, I am not sure I would want that to be broadcast?
