I read this last year. Best book I had read in a while and did find it impossible to put down. First book by Andy Weir.
"Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there."
Now I see that it is to be a film. It's a great story so please don't fek it up Mr R Scott.

i think he can do it justice. great actor, see his performance in 'the informant!' for something against the grain of his usual roles.

And many think Prometheus wasn't a let down. Shall we start a third thread?
No let's not.Director's previous works will forever be discussed in topics that concern their future works, or is that not allowed?
You seem to be on a personal mission to refute any negative comments about the film.

The majority of his recent(ish) stuff as director has been pretty good.
Fair enough, I have to go back to 2007's American Gangster for the last film of his that I enjoyed. Everything since has either been dull (Body of Lies, Robin Hood), stupid (Prometheus), or both (The Counsellor, Exodus) IMHO.Will still give this a go though as will always live in hope of him turning things around, and at least the premise sounds interesting.

I'm just not sure how a book that is 90% inner monologue would work as a film, it would be cool if they did it as a silent film just watching him do his thing while we can only hear him breathing most of the time (a bit like Gravity I guess), but I'm not sure if Hollywood is brave enough for that.
