Michael Mann is making a biopic of Enzo Ferrari. He has made some truly epic films, including The Insider, Heat, Last of the Mohicans , Collateral, Manhunter and Ali. His last few, Blackat, Public Enemies, and Miami Vice have been poor - and that's putting it mildly for at least one of those films.
I was in two minds when I heard about this. Especially as Christian Bale was down to be playing Enzo. He was great in batman, but he is always Christain Bale if you know what I mean. The smugness and lack of charm worked well in Batman and other films but wasn't sure about this.
They hadn't even started filming and already Bale has dropped out over concerns he can't pack on the pounds needed safely in time. Find that surprising given his wacky weight changes in the past for roles.
