Why do the main show first. Would be better to do the paralympics first to get people in the mood and then the main event after. I have no interest in the paralympics now as i watched plenty of the main event. Also when they build the athletes villages it would be easier to convert from disabled to standard accomodation and then after into housing for locals?

Really?

Please clarify why the able bodied Olympics is the 'main show' and the Paralympics only makes sense as an introduction.

What the paralympians achieve with disabilities is astounding and in my view much more of an achievement than your bog standard Olympian no matter how fast they run / swim.

It's bad enough that you are that ignorant, but to think you have a point valid enough to post is embarrassing.

I think he has a point, if it was on before when all the coverage is ramping up for the Olympics I think a lot more people would watch it. Being on afterwards I think most people who generally watch no sport week in, week out have had there yearly fill of it after the wall to wall 2 week coverage and have just lost interest by the time the Paralympics comes on.

Some have suggested it should be held at the same time as the Olympics. Just extend to 3-4 weeks to accommodate it all.

Because less people watch it. No point in arguing, it's a proven fact.

Yes, but we don't want to let such things as "facts" get in the way of a good old "right on" rant, eh?

A fairly logical idea in my opinion, whilst interest in the Paralympics seems greater than it was years ago, it still barely registers compared to the Olympics for most people. I assume there is some reason why it doesn't happen, but I've no idea why that would be.

I guess London proved that it can work, as ticket sales for the Paralympics went through the roof with the buzz of the Olympics. We didn't even bother trying to get Olympic tickets, but the buzz from that meant we tried to get some Paralympic tickets. Doesn't work in countries that have less income/interest though, clearly.
