I am sure there was a baddie in one of the above Gerry Anderson shows. It might have been an alien, or a sea monster or something else.

It waved its arms above its head, and all it seemed to say was "Akalakalaka" over and over again.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

Nope smile

It might be the last picture Eric posted. Although somebody else has told me I might be thinking of Team America...

Let me start again smile

I don't want a list of baddies. I want to know which one waved its arms and said "Akalakalaka and so on".

Maybe you are thinking of "Mars Attacks".

The Stingray baddies went "flubbalubbalubba".

(Or was that "Bill and Ben"?)

Yeah, it sounds like Mars Atracks to me. In my peculiar brain, I've obviously merged that into Thunderbirds, and come up with not only a fantastic idea for a movie, but also a solution to what the people of planet Earth ought to do when Mars does actually attack. Call International Rescue.

I think Eric's answered this for me. Thanks. smile

This neatly reminds me I have the entire DVD series of classic Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Stingray on DVD, ready for when I have children and/or want to relive the best shows from my own childhood.

Don't forget that the premise of "Captain Scarlet" was that the Martians presumed that the first landing by Earth astronauts on Mars was an attack on Mars.
A kind of "Earth Attacks".

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I've just stumbled upon this.
I realise Eric is a font of all knowledge, but I'm pretty sure the Earth men attacked the Martians first. I think it was some sort of misunderstanding, but the actions of the Mysterons were in retaliation for the attack.

Eric, yes you did.

Whilst we are on the topic of Gerry Anderson and this being a car site I always wanted Joe 90's car and I still think it is a very cool design. Now I cant stop humming the theme tune

The astronauts see the Martians pointing what looks like a big gun at them (IIRC it's some sort of communication antenna) and get their retaliation in first. The Martians 'mysteronise' one of the astronauts and send him back to earth - Captain Black.

Thing is, Black is already a Spectrum agent - so what was Spectrum's role before the Mysteron threat?
