If you were to appoint a celebrity mechanic to restore your classic car who would you choose?

Personally I like Ant Anstead from 'For the love of cars', he seems a nice guy and very thorough. Fuzz Townsend from 'Car SOS' would also be high on my list.

Others you might want to consider are;
Edd China from 'Wheeler dealers'
Bernie Fineman from 'Chop Shop' and 'Classic car resuce'
Wayne Carini 'Chasing classic cars'
Jock Campbell 'The Garage'...i might be scrapping the barrel here.

Any other suggestions?

He would be my choice as a mechanic but as a restorer, none of those others suggested give me 100% confidence.

Indeed Roger Barr is great and would be good company as a ride along mechanic. The title of the thread says mechanic but like you, I wouldn't let any of them near any of my cars to restore them.

This man would make sure the job was done right. David Grainger from the Guild.

But from the list I reckon it would be between Ant and Ed.

Fuzz for me, too - I know Ed is a good mechanic, but his business has been fabricating motorised furniture. Fuzz runs a proper classic restoration business.

I'd go with this as well, once finished with my car he could fix my dog as well.

Met him. He raced with us at Rockingham at the start of the season (He was getting his race ticks for the Lotus show he did later this year and I believe Ginetta invited him along as a one off).

Slow as hell but a thoroughly nice chap, you wouldn't know he was on telly at all talking to him. Had a long chat with him in the hospitality tent and discovered he's a proper petrolhead too.
