Dear BBC radio news people, why, in the name of the Holy Succubus of Scunthorpe, do you think I need to know who won that bloody Come Dancing thing?

Anyone remotely interested in this vacuous tripe will have been watching it on TV, getting pissed on Sanatogen Tonic Wine and dribbling in their cardigans like there's no tomorrow.

They will know who won.

Anyone not interested does not need the news cluttered up with it.

In other news, Ivor Dullard beat his sister Roger at Tiddy Winks in the back room of their Salford semi...

See, some things are not appropriate on national and international news. Who gives a flying toss...?

I know it's a bit new fangled, but the voices coming from the radio are not specifically addressing you MBU.

I agree. Since when has entertainment show results been THE news? It's SOME news and pretty low down in importance imo.
Yes I'm a grumpy sod who doesn't watch any of these kind of programs.

Ditto; but unfortunately Mrs C does. I don't resent her watching it (much) but the damned thing was on seven nights a week FFS!

And that farce of the "Sunday" Results Show where they took half an hour to tell you (one at a time obviously for full 'dramatic' effect) which 2 out of 15 were in the dance-off really boiled my piss. "And the first 'kupple' safely through and not in the dance off is......[5 minute pregnant pause].......Fred and Ginger", etc for a half hour or so.

My version. "We've counted the rigged votes. You two - fight it out"

I have watched a few episodes of the dancing show this season, largely because of the fantastically hot women dancers. Though I do agree with the OP to a large extent.

I never understand why the news has to tell us who won a football game when those interested will already know.

I watched it for the first time last night. I have to admit to enjoying it but the drink might have had something to do with that!
You have to admit that the winner did bloody well with no dance background at all.

It's a national event watched by millions of people. Just because it's not watched by me or the OP doesn't make it not news.

The news also tells you, as one of the headlines, who won the FA Cup, Champions League and World Cup, on the days the final is played.

FFS! Didn't you get the memo? Nobody is supposed to EVER tell him that - it's the only way they've been able to keep him even slightly under control!

I share your ire 'nurts.

Crap like this, if it must be reported, should be a footnote to the news, not one of the main stories given in depth coverage.

I agree with OP, not a news story in any way shape or form and some genuine news will have been dropped to make way. Sooner another channel picks this up the better and it can disappear into obscurity.

Me too also.

And another thing, using BBC news to advertise upcoming BBC programmes is a pain in the hoop as well.

You should try X-Factor if you think Strictly is bad for this. Strictly is relatively efficient with time as these sorts of shows go. XF can string one result over an hour easily, with a good 20 minutes of ads for good measure.

Anyhow, we watch Strictly a day behind on catch-up and FF through everything but dances and scores, whole show takes about 15 minutes smile
