I just wonder what the story will be, especially as this is going to be 2 films.

The problem is the original book has good bits, but also quite a lot of rubbish plus one or two extremely dubious bits. And the good bits make an OK start to the story but what do you do for the second half?

This film concentrates on the story of the kids, and the 2nd one assuming it is made will be the adults.

I remember ploughing through the book as a teenager, didn't think it was one of his best books then, will prolly watch the film to refresh the memory

Looking forward to that.

"Teaser Trailer" though? I remember when they were maybe 5 seconds of video and a lingering shot of the logo with "Summer 2015" underneath, that's more than a tease.

That'd pretty much destroy the dual narrative though? It's two parallel stories that progress together, trying to make it one then the other just wouldn't work?

Yep agree, I don't think it's his best work although the killer clown has become a horror genre classic thanks to this book.

Also we'll probably have another wave of "killer clowns" on the streets to look forward to when this is released. rolleyes

The Dark Tower movie is also out later this, a much better book so I have high hopes for that film.

Going to see IT tomorrow evening. Seems to be getting good reviews.

Any PH film buffs wanna give their rating?

Just home from seeing this, surprised nobody else has commented.

Anyway, very good remake. Very enjoyable. Skasgard is very good as pennywise, and the kids put in good performances too.

I kinda found it almost as a grown ups version of the goonies, soon funny moments in there. I'd give it an enjoyable 8/10.

Utterly, utterly brilliant film. Just seen it at an iMax and it's one of the best horrors I have ever seen. Pennywise is horrific yikes

Saw it earlier today.

Now I don't normally do horror movies, I wanted to leave the theatre when I watched 'I am Legend' when Will Smith went in the building after his dog!

So a proper horror is generally beyond my capacity if I want to sleep anytime soon.

That said the film was great, very much a 'Stand by me' crossed with 'Stranger Things' great film with an 80's nostalgia to it but....

.....not scary.

Maybe one jump scare but otherwise just uncomfortable in places but not scary.

Just watched the original Tim Curry TV film. It was good in a dodgy effects 1990s sort of way, but it wasn't scary, the 15 on the dvd cover must be for the blood. I'll probably watch the new one next week, I'm interested now how they make the film from just the kids part and how the second film will be the grown ups.

Watched it last night at the IMAX. Thought it was pretty good, and that it kicked the crap out of The Dark Tower. Not sure about the decision to split the films children / adults, but I think it's too long for one film and would be difficult to end the first film halfway through both stories.

Agree with that , took my son with me , he descibed it as "creepy" rather than scary. Some excellent performances from the kids and Bill Skarsgard. Certainly an 8/10

Well worth the 31 year wait after loving the novel , dark , twisted and excellent acting all round . So much better than original mini series . We watched it at the Everymans cinema Chelmsford , a very nice venue indeed yes
And Bill Skarsgard absolutely nails it as Pennywise .

Watched it tonight and liked it, I don't really do horror either unless it's a funny one. One thing I did notice is that there's a lot of jump scares that are out at the camera, like in the 3D movies, but I can't find any 3D listings for it.

I haven't read the book, but some bits were similar to the TV movie, other bits along the same lines, and some bits not there at all (so must be from the book).

Penny-wise was great though smile

Saw this last night and it was excellent.

I'm a fan of the original film. Mostly for nostalgic reasons from watching it as kids and memorising Tim Curry's catch phrases. I honestly wasn't expecting much with it being a reboot but I was pleasently surprised!

It has a very "stranger things" vibe to it that works really well. Fantastic acting all round and the new penny-wise works really well. He's no Tim curry but makes the role his own and is great in his own right.

It has plenty of jump scares but nothing I would class as scary. I found penny-wise quite hilarious at times, but I always did with the original too. Plenty of one liners in this new film, even some the same from the original. I think I would have cheered if he had said "This is a little inconvenient" but sadly, it never came...

9/10 for me because nothing is ever perfect. It felt too long to me. Seemed to stall about 3/4 of the way through and dragged but got going again towards the end.

Definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of the original film or the book.
