Lately ive been getting more and more frustrated with netflix.

Dont get me wrong, theres plenty of good series on there but once you have worked your way through them and get to the films there is a minimal amount of films, and the majority of them score 6 or less on IMDB.

Every film someone suggests i watch, is never on netflix, i would happily accept an increase in price to 15 pound a month if they massively increased their library.

Then people always wonder why so many peoole turn to kodi, if they just made a good streaming service for a third of the price of sky, kodi would eventually die out.

My personal observation is they pay actors far far too much money, then complain when they dont get the revenue back as people choose to watch illegally.

Thought?

The problem is usually the licensing for the various countries.

eg USA has quite a different selection of stuff compared to us. Hence the move to USA VPNs to access it, and the whack-a-mole that Netflix do by banning them etc.

Netflix isn't about movies and hasn't been for years. They don't really invest in their film library other than picking up cheap stuff because no one wants to watch it - Netflix is all about the (usually extremely high quality) serial programs and TV programs from other networks.

I can always find stuff to watch on there.

Brilliant selection.

If someone stepped up and offered a decent service it would kill off the likes of Kodi and piracy, just like Spotify etc killed off music piracy.

Sometimes Piracy is the only answer. When the new season of Peaky Blinders started I missed the first few episodes. They were no longer on iPlayer, and obviously the DVD was months away, so the only option I had to watch the first 3 episodes I'd missed? Piracy.

I agree, I grow more and more disillusioned with Netflix every week.

I'm in Norway so not sure how my content compares to that of the UK but there's so much crap on there and by crap I mean st American stand up comedy and the rest of the other ste.

But my biggest bug bear is the "recently Added" section, I'm sure that some of this recently added stuff was previously recently added a long time ago, it just doesn't change often enough for me. But at the same time it's that cheap (at least for Norway, I think it's 88kr a month) it's just not worth cancelling.

I've also just added HBO Nordic to our list of TV services through the PS4, we get a free month and again it's fairly cheap at 89kr a month, worth it purely for Got and Ballers in HD with no interuptions.

HBO just churns out gold, I don't like Ballers, but even low quality stuff for HBO beats anyone else out there.
I guess you can get the whole back catalogue?

Thinking about it, I'd get Netflix for the marvel stuff, I@m surprised that HBO hasn't got a marvel show.

Yeah I think so.

It's literally taken over from Netflix and they also have movies available on it aswell.

Finding it harder as well to justify the monthly cost, want more 4k content. Apple TV rumoured to have 4k soon, will see what they have to offer. Won't mind not using the app if they nail it on the head, Disney will be pulling its content as well and launching their own channel (with ESPN I suppose).

How on earth do you run out of stuff to watch?!

Due to commuting I think I watch quite a lot of TV and I've still got about 50 shows/series on my 'list' that needs watching.

They'll go bankrupt - they're making no money and are spending an insane amount.

That or they'll just get bought out by Disney.

I think HBO is free through Get if you have a Get Box, my Mrs keeps telling me to cancel it...

As others have mentioned, Netflix has never been about movies. If you think it's bad now presumably you didn't endure it in the early days, the movie range is so much better now. Netflix strategy is to produce their own content as much as possible now. By far the best way in to decent movie content is the Now TV cinema package (£9.99 per month).

No service is going to offer what you want simply because the cost of licensing studio back catalogues and new releases is staggering. Netflix currently have a deal for new Disney releases but that will expire in a couple of years and Disney are starting their own service.

That the likes of Amazon and Netflix have decided to produce their own movies rather than licence others should give you a good idea how much the major studios are charging for new releases.

I look at it the other way around. The large number of good TV shows on Netflix has almost put me off movies.

You realise how limited movies are in character and relationship building when they only have about 120 minutes to introduce the characters, detail their back stories, build a plot for the film and reach a big budget conclusion.

Have to laugh at OP bemoaning actors' pay - in terms of material contribution to the overall cost of film production, it's getting on for negligible.

Suppose it's an easy target if you don't want to actually think anything through, mind.

Netflix = TV
Now TV = Films

Join up with a friend or family member and have one pay for Netflix and the other for Now TV Cinema. Unless you're unemployed and never leave the house, there is enough new content between the 2 to keep you entertained for evenings in.
