No idea either on a date but i will watch the first few. If they are as poor as the last series then for the first time in a long time i will not be watching.

Much better things on TV or the Tube such as Roadkill

From the pic I saw, it's based in the US again. I read somewhere it was for the better weather so they could get more filming done. There must be more to it than that though ? Is the production company US based ?

I'll give it a try, but between the US base and no Ed I can't see me lasting long on it.

I'll give it a whirl for the first few, but I fear it's going to be st, powerful st.

It's going to be even more Mike focused, or at least less hands on focused if you believe Edd who gave that reason for his departure and I don't really know what this Ant guy is like, he's not Edd.

The last couple were circling the drain for me. I usually FF the Mike bits, we've seen it all before - "owld our yah and" "size nines" "I'm gonna bid 'em" and all that, it's the same script with a different player. Anyway - if you did that way back when, back then you'd get 5 mins of Mike then into the Garage. Edd through the middle bar a bit of Mike buying some pattern wings for a Capri then Edd till the last 5 mins when Mike would sell it.

The last couple have been Mike up to the ads, then some more Mike, then Mike and Edd doing the "what have you brought me know bit" then Edd for 5 mins, then Mike doing a 'deal' with some supplier who lets him have a go, Edd, Mike and Edd (you haven't done anything bit" Mike - end. I just to sit back and watch someone with a bit of mechanical talent fix something - it's nice and relaxing to watch - not Mike and some poor exhaust rep trying to act.

I fear the new one will be much worse, firstly it made for the US market so there will have to be mock arguments and pointless deadlines, it'll be smothered in pizazz and little actual content - worst still they'll probably add a "before the break" section for those who's attention span is shorter then 3 mins.

Isn't that already the case now, after every ad break they revisit Mike buying the car...

I wouldn't bet against it, I actually gave up on the last series, I was only watching through habit.

I've been a WD fan since they were tarting up £500 bangers but it's a shadow of it's former self, I put Edd's departure as 'reality' TV dramatics, but I no longer think so, it's near 'Counting Cars' levels now - the TV show about customising cars, when they don't actually show you them customising them.

I really enjoyed 'For the Love of Cars' that Ant Anstead did with Phil Glenister. Ant is easily as competent as Edd the bodger, if not more-so. It should be good as long as they don't start fighting for TV effect that the Yanks seem to love.

I like Counting Cars, but it does need to be an hour rather than 30 minutes (probably nearer 20 with ad breaks). Also, not quite so much of the driving round looking for cars that they don't buy anyway. A few haircuts wouldn't go amiss either laugh

Pretty much sums it up - it's a US show now isn't it.

As an aside, did anyone else see Ed China on the BBC Breakfast news at the weekend? He's lending his face and support to an initiative to inspire school-agers to go into engineering. Worthy cause IMO.

Pointless deadlines. Stopped watching CAR SOS because of it.
Rushing to finish a car some old git forgot he even had.

Exactly. I prefer Kindig Customs where they seem to take years over the builds !

Don't knock bodging. It's a great skill. Refitting a Morris Minor clutch with a wooden alignment tool is what taught me that cutting costs isn't cutting corners.

Watched the first episode last night and I’m not impressed. This is the thread with spoilers so I will give one. It’s another episode where the car was never really bought as the original owner “buys” it at the end. Unfortunately, they refer to the owner in present tense during the build. They also gave the worst reason possible for why the owner was selling. “I can’t find anyone to work on it”. You mean a Ford? In America? Really.

I could go on but I realize I’m becoming a Top Gear whiner. As in, why am I still watching? I think it’s like a marriage when you know it’s over but you don’t want to get divorced.
