Quite a weird channel - all re-runs of the A Team, Knight Rider, Airwolf, Phil Silvers. & then some occasionally interesting documentaries from various war zones. There was a good one about life in Afghan NATO bases recently.

Used to watch it when we first got Sky as I found some of the content quite interesting but after a while noticed that they just keep repeating the same programmes over and over again.

They occasionally cover our races.
I get a mention as fastest navy but only a couple of glimpses of the car!

I recently found this article linked below that suggests various Channels may disappear from Freeview.***
This is down to some frequency being sold off
Ironically in our household Forces TV was always one of the weaker channels and was prone to vanishing during moderate rainfall. We are listed on the Freeview map as not being guaranteed reception of the channel.
A few weeks ago it and some other HD Channels vanished altogether despite retuning as a result as Freeview is our main TV source I sort of forgot about Forces TV

Anyway this article goes on to list channels affected
  • *The broadcaster may be able to secure another “slot”

Channels affected

Forces TV
BBC News HD
BBC Four HD
CBeebies HD
More 4 +1
Now 80s
Quest HD
Quest Red +1
QVH HD
QVC Beauty HD
PBS America +1
That’s TV UK
Together

Very sad news, ForcesTV is probably my number 1 watched channel this year. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a (for example) "Return of the Saint" DVD, but I'll willingly have it on in the background whilst I'm doing something else, the same with most of the other shows on there. In this respect I don't mind coming in half way through an episode of something, watching for 15 minutes, then going and doing something else.

Oh well, at least Talking Pictures is still going strong - I just wished they showed more 70/80's TV.

Closed down today. Gutted, had seen no announcements.
As ex military I enjoyed a lot of the factual stuff and news, but they has some cracking old TV shows on, CHiPs, Blakes7, lots of old comedies.

Going to miss it as we watched it a lot.

They have a YouTube channel and I understand that some of the factual stuff news etc will be being shown on there.
Incidentally Poo if you are a freeview viewer there are some other changes coming with I think a couple of other channels vanishing (Freesports) and others being renumbered.
I think some of the CBS channels are merging Justice and Drama and The Horror Channel is being replaced by one called Legend which is similar but a bit different

It's being presented as a rebrand as they've drifted into show a lot of non horror stuff. On Freesat there is Legend and HorrorXtra which is a part time channel showing only 'horror'(ish) films. Legend replace CBS Justice and Horror became HorrorXtra.

I miss it already.
Along the way it brought back Saphire and Steele one of the more genuinely scary series
More recently I really enjoyed The Return Of The Saint. I loved the Jaguar
So much of it was low key brilliant
