I really want this to be good, but Tim makes me cringe so much I just can't watch it, I'll just watch the end bit

Must be the least deserving people ever on Car SOS, clearly very wealthy. He can't even be that incapacitated if he can fly off to work in the far east for 6 weeks at a time.

I wonder what there budget they kept refering to was and what the value increase was during this resoration, the guy was delighted with the result, how much did he gain on the valuation, bearing in mind they were reffering to restored ones at around the 500k mark at the start of the programme, no wonder he looked happy, has channel 4 made him richer by 250k ish better off on his return from his 6 weeks work in se asia.

Does this really need a thread separate to the existing Car SOS thread, on which I think this episode has already been discussed?

I thought that too. He wasn't on deaths door like previous people on the show and sets to be considerably richer than he already was if he decided to sell the car...

Ah, I remember this one from when it was on Sky - Oil and Gas guy, bit of a boohoo about the North Sea ending and having to fly off to the Far East to continue to earn a lovely lifestyle thankyouverymuch and CarSausage turn a wreck into a £200k+ asset for him. Have I remembered that right?

I'll still watch it on C4 OD tonight, and I actually like Tim, even though last time I though - well, he's not exactly Audi Quattro chap is he?

Yes this put me off the show a while ago when they started helping these people who could clearly afford to have them professionally restored.

Only just got round to watching this. It did strike me as though they clearly had money and his health problems really weren't all that compared to previous recipients. The one before with the bloke left servery disabled and virtually blind really tugged at my heart strings.
Something else i wondered about though is how well was it actually restored? Ok the outside looked lovely but the engine bay looked as though it had just been patched up then black hammerited and the engine had no more than a compression test. Understand they have a budget but how much is a badly restored DB6 worth as surely anyone buying one would have it looked at by a specialist and if faults are found will reduce the value by £££.

Always a good show.

Best one I saw was a poor chap with a urQuattro terminal illness (-and he credits flagged he did indeed pass away during the editing ). He said he’d never sell the car BUT on his dmlassing his Will passed the car onto the charity he supported/which help people with his illness - instruction was to sell it and all proceeds go to that charity.

Was hard watching mind.

Thread resurrection.

Just watched this episode again due to 'Lockdown'. rolleyes The car owner looks to live in a very nice (expensive) part of bonnie Scotland. I struggled to see how deserving he actually was first time around but I wanted to see the car again. There were several front end shots and just to the right of the nearside headlight there were noticeable paint blemishes in a couple of ridges.

Just done a car tax and MOT check out of curiosity. Car is currently SORN. MoT history - 12 Nov 2016 at 98,347 miles is a fail with 6 entries for brake issues. No mention of rust confused Then 23 Jan 2017 a pass at 98,356 miles with no advisories.

Wonder if it has been put back in the garage for another 20 years. tumbleweed

Maybe it was kept off the road over the Xmas period as they waited for a part.

Be interesting to see it’s miles have increased much.

It may be simply that the chap is an opportunist and rang up and said 'Hey I've got a tatty DB6 you can work on if you want a bit of class on the show and higher ratings.' The Producer would have made the decision.

So anyway, now we need Edd, Ant and Fozz in a celebrity fix-off... first one to get the engine back in wins.

Yep, could be as it was the rear brakes that were recording little or no effort. Looks like its been off the road since though. Appreciating asset?

What gets me is cars describe as the pride and joy of the keeper.
Bit like a hoarder house clearance show where the hovel is described as the pride and joy of the owner.
Horse makeover show where the much loved horse is found emaciated chained to a post in a ste filled shed.
etc etc.
Still its showbiz I guess.

What does it matter? You saw an Aston Martin being fixed and you didn't pay a dime towards it. You had an hour of entertainment out of it for gratis. Once the car is sorted it's up to the owner to do what he wants with it.

We have the chap who had the Audi Quattro who sadly died and decided to give it away to a charity. We then had the old Teddy Boy with the Ford Zodiac, I don't think he ever drove it then passed away with the family selling the car on. There will be plenty of people who have their cars done that just garage them away because they're too good to be used daily, or maybe they don't want to scratch them etc.

I do wonder what drives people to come on the internet and say st like this. "Oh Tim Shaw's a tt I hate him". "Oh that person didn't have a rare enough form of cancer to warrant his car being done, he didn't deserve it!". ps off.
