The Crash Detectives BBC
Discussion
I'm not sure if this was broadcast nationally, but it's on the iPlayer.
I really enjoyed it and was really rooting for the Copper. It seems almost like a one-officer crusade to nick a nasty piece of work who... well, watch it for yourself if you haven't already.

I have read the piece on the BBC website (not used the iPlayer facility yet) . Very interesting how they calculated speeds, etc. and pieced together what really happened. The police investigator certainly earned his money. Well done to him for carrying on looking into it to get to the truth. Chap that was involved in the car seemed like an unpleasant human being.
Just watched both episodes. Had no idea the programme existed. Thanks OP.
That MG was in good nick wasn't it!!
These drivers obviously don't think the crash techs are in the same league as murder investigators and think they can bluff their way out of it.
I'm glad their misapprehensions have been cleared up for them...
If you've killed someone the police aren't just going to let it go, and you aren't going to get away with it.
Take responsibility for your actions you contemptible lowlifes.

Wow, what a great programme, I watched the first 2 episodes last night. How is this not a mainstream BBC showing? I can't seem to series link it as we're not in Wales, I'll have to try and remember to download it when it's been shown.
Any guesses on the MG story? I wonder if he was taking it on a test drive with a view to buying it or if it was his car that had been laid up?? Surely he didn't know there were literally no brakes and ½ of the rear suspension was hanging off?????? I'm guessing he suffered brain injuries being "too badly injured to be prosecuted"

I don't want to bad mouth my fellow countrymen, but 'The Valleys' has a hardcore of idiots who really don't give a single st about much -welding up a couple of suspension arms to save £100 of parts, of course! What you mean I could die? Someone was convicted a few years ago for amongst other things filling his brake reservoir with water, not by accident, but because it's cheaper init?! I've see tyres with less thread that what Lewis Hamilton uses, cars driving at night without headlamps, not no lights on, no no headlamps in the front of their car. The programme to me really highlighted the adage that it's other people you need to worry about rather than yourself like the old fella swerving into the path of the oncoming car
Thanks OP, just watched two episodes and about to watch a third.
Very interesting program, well presented without being sensationalised.
That MG that ended up on it's side, didn't even have a brake fluid resevoir attached to the master cylinder, wonder if the DVSA came down hard on whoever MOT'd it.

Sadly I am not surprised over the idiocy however it has shown that things are not as simple as they seem (obvious is obvious and all that but....).
Follow up would be interesting especially on the garage that magicked that MG through an MOT when it was not even fit to be in a scrapyard.
