Henry Catchpole for Top Gear

Strangely enough I had that exact thought when watching that this morning. I think his stuff is probably the best car stuff on Youtube at the moment. That may be my age showing though as i like the fact he is smart and articulate in his review of the cars, production is great and he isn't shouting "hey GUYS" at every opportunity, while pretending to have bought the car he has on loan for the promo video.
if they are going to stick with that format, then they need somebody who can play the Clarkson role. Catchpole is more of a May.
The format may have had its day - it's looking pretty tired on Grand Tour.
Harris, Catchpole, Jethro and Meaden making very expensive films about cars would appeal to all of us, but it wouldn't be the light entertainment, cocking about in cars juggernaut that TG has become.

what's the point ? TG is so old hat now, much better to make a programme about slightly socially backward kids playing computer games. even my highly educated (in terms of monetary cost) kids sit down and watch you tube videos made by teenagers who lock themselves in their rooms playing 'Fortnight' (sic), rather than middle aged people at a loose end dicking around in cars - it's all so screwed up now, TV is looking as secure going forward as House of Fraser....
Harry should have his own programme, 'Harry's hanger'. He is the dude...

What would be wrong with making it a online programme only... surely that'd be a bit cheaper - don't need a premises really or studio audience. The format may have had its day - it's looking pretty tired on Grand Tour.

If they changed the format for TG it might work. Don't think they will though and that's the problem. Eg. Chris Harris was much better when he was doing vids for us car geeks but on TG just painful to watch. A good example for me was his original video of his very own 2CV. Compare that to the piece on TG he did - just banal rubbish.

Both he Jethro and Meaden are far better suited to this kind of stuff :
