I thought I had started a thread on this last year but I think it was a post on another thread.

Anyway, supposedly based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski and not the video games by CD Projekt Red because Andrzej Sapkowski wants to sell books not give more money to CDPR because he thinks he sold the rights off too cheaply not thinking they would be so popular.

Anyway.

Geralt has been cast...and they have chosen...drum roll.................

Henry Cavill [sound of single hand clapping]

He's a big fan of the W3, there was a video on IGN where he said he's read all the books and played the game twice.

However, I'd have preferred someone less "Hollywood", someone less well known, as Caville is very much Superman to many in his association. In all honesty, I'm struggling to see him in the role, he's bulky and too 'clean' looking.

That being said, that's a massive catch for them, having someone like him attached to it, it'll raise its profile massively. I expect that's why they jumped on him after he commented about how he'd love to be included.

Wouldn't have been my first choice - but neither is it a WTF casting decision either.

There's a mocked-up pic out there in internet-land of Cavill-as-Geralt and it's a pretty good facsimile of the Geralt we're used to from the game.

However he ends up looking, it's going to take some time for me to get past hearing Doug Cockle as the voice of Geralt.....

If you listen from here:
https://youtu.be/hr-TY2y_-pw?t=204

He puts on the "gruff" voice which I assume is similar to what we'll be hearing.

Anyway, in other casing news, apparently a while back Mark Hamill put himself forward for playing Papa Vesemir:

I just want Kate Beckinsale as Yennefer and I couldn't care about the rest wink

I think it's going to tank badly, the choices are absurd.

This is a red flag to me. The sort of comment on a bad low budget B movie poster.

Ever since I started to suspect they were turning Wheel of Time into Wheel of Woke this has been my big hope for a good new fantasy TV show.

Fingers crossed for this one!
