Enjoyed it, especially as it was filmed around the places I grew up.
I left that school in 1984 and it still looks just the same.
Looking forward to seeing how it pans out, whether the daughters behaviour is being used to show how she is no different to the missing kids step-dad or whether there is another link to the dead boy. ?

I'm sorry but that side plot with the quickie up against the wall and then failure to recuse from investigation due to conflict of interest was just effing stupid beyond utter b
ks. Yes I know it's only drama, but even inept dramatic stupidity annoys, unless it's a comedy, eg Jack Whitehall. Binned half way through episode 1.
Anyway those who are enjoying it , good luck, carry on.

How many episodes is it? It seems to be rattling on at a fair old pace, so we thought it was a 3 part series or something.
WRT the drunken fumble, I called that as soon as they went to the house, and the husband was out looking for the kids. I know it's there to create dramatic tension, but it seems a bit obvious.
I think the key might be the copper's son messaging to "BantasaurusRex" or similar with the "Prove It" comment. It could be a coincidence that the twins went missing on the same night, what with the slightly predatory chap doing up the amusement arcade, and the copper's daughter staying out late.
The wife likes it, we'll see it through.

..and it was shown on every trailer for the series for weeks before so wasn't intended to be a surprise, I don't think that has any real bearing on the plot beyond a nod to the 'small seaside town' nature of Morecambe. The sore of place where everybody's lives often intertwine, a bit like Broadchurch. I spent most of the time spotting where they filmed and working out how the seaside shop fronts kept swapping sides despite being on the same continuous journey
It was interesting to see how they move location for the different shots...e.g. three chaps in their yellow fisherman outfits by the clock tower, cut scene and the main chap is talking to the detective at the end of the stone jetty.

That does make me feel a little less smart though, cheers!

We were watching it completely blind, hadn't seen any of the trailers or anything.

You done well to miss the trailers. Both the BBC and ITV seem to plug their new stuff continuously. You're not even safe these days after you've watched as they then go on to plug it on catchup. That does make me feel a little less smart though, cheers!

It's ludicrous, plot holes abound. Still going to watch it though.

I think it appears to be some challenge thing, with the challenges getting worse and more dangerous. I'm guessing that's what happened to the missing daughter and dead son. Maybe the final challenge they had to do was extremely dangerous and killed the son.
This is the conclusion we got to in our house too, but of course it won't be.It'll be something completely from left-field, completely unpredictable, and make us go "Aaaah, FFS."
A bit like the killer from the first series of Broadchurch.
