Seemingly, I’ve managed to miss an entire 8 series’ of Game of Thrones.

Watching 90 seconds of it on Gogglebox this evening, it appears to be utter bks. Am I missing something?

If someone hasn't seen game of thrones or is a vegan which one do they tell you first?

I'm with the OP. Overblown drivel IMHO. Or as Stewart Lee has it, "Peter Stringfellow's Lord of the Rings"...

It was great, a series that wasn't afraid to rip out your favourite character, you thought xyz was the lead on the show? nope we cut his head off. All the time there was wtf moments. It all came out of left field like no other show (imagine lord of the rings beheading frodo half way through the first book)

It gripped you, it made you think what the hell is happening, sometimes you thought fk yeah the little st got his comeuppance (there are some truly evil bds on the show) There were stories that started from the very first episode that went in to such detail and took years to flesh out that you invested years in to yourself and were plotting in your mind where they'd go, what is abc going to do?

Season 8 pissed all over that and made sure none of the stories, none of the arcs mattered, it was a big fk you to fans so don't even bother with it, stick to breaking bad for an example of how to end a series.

Frankly. From the little bit I saw, it looked like a heady mix of weak plot, poor CG and bad acting.

Call me odd, but it just doesn’t do anything for me

it was more about politics , intrinsic storylines, and killing off major characters at any time that made it refreshing and very indepth tv programme against the plethora of mediocre bile on other channels that made it popular. later seasons it basically became st.

Ah yes, 90 seconds is plenty of time to judge. I believe most critics only watch as much before writing their reviews for TV and film.

No. I switched the TV on. It happened to be on on CH4 and ended up as background noise, where we happened to watch Game of Thrones.

From what I saw, it just seemed to be a bit cheap and rather st. Perhaps it’s damning testament to everything else on TV at present..?

I really enjoyed all 8 series, great series with lots of tits, dragons and creative ways of ending characters.

Lots of whining about arcs and over invested "fans" doing more whining.

So what are you fishing for? Some sort of perverse, sad recognition via collective reinforcement from others who aren't fans of the series? A kind of "look at us, aren't we the Mutts nuts for not liking a very successful, critically acclaimed show? wink

1/10 for what is obviously a half-arsed effort at being contrarian. biggrin

Lots of fannies too and titties and doggy style and group sex and rape

Actually I’ve really underplayed it - so if you like soft pron with stunning ladies then some fighting lots of the use of the word tt fk cock bd and incredible CGI

Then to top it off a great storyline.

I loved it - and will be buying the boxset when the full 8 series in one massive collectors edition comes out I’ll be buying it

There was this amazing promise of a mega fight at the end, as the payoff to the viewer.

Between the undead and a super cool Night King with magic powers, and each side having a dragon. Thereby implying the dragons would fight each other to the death scratching each others eyes out and stuff.

The battle to end all battles in tv & movie history.

That is why we watched.

It didn't happen.

Made people appreciate Breaking Bad a lot more.

I only started about halfway through the series, and wasn't gripped, but it improved. The stuff with dragons and fierce men in leather that look like klingons is pretty naff, but the politics and intrigue can be good. Series 6 and 8 I enjoyed hugely.
