Love Island - What's the big deal?
Discussion
I haven't been able to switch on the Radio or read the News without hearing about this show. What's the big deal with it?
I watched a clip of it on YouTube and it seemed to be about nothing more than a load of Orange half-witted millennials with all the depth and warmth of a petri dish doing and talking about nothing other than trying to get laid 24/7.
I'm guessing there's more to it than that, and why is it so popular?

I don’t get it either, I think I have fallen into the old categoryI watched a clip of it on YouTube and it seemed to be about nothing more than a load of Orange half-witted millennials with all the depth and warmth of a petri dish doing and talking about nothing other than trying to get laid 24/7.

Honestly, I think it's a disgraceful show.
It sends out the message that to have your 15 minutes you need nothing more than a toned and tanned body.
No need for any kind of personality or intellect and if you're a bit chubby or a bit short, forget it.
Magazines and advertisement get slated for using only "beautiful people" yet here is prime time TV, influencing a generation and effectively body shaming anyone who isn't a physically near-perfect specimen. At best there will be countless young people wishing they could look like these people and feeling inadequate.
Young people should aspire to be physicists, chemists, explorers, writers, thinkers, leaders and much, much more. Hell, look what one cricket match did for the nation yesterday.
Plenty do aspire to those things of course, but wouldn't it be wonderful if such aspirations were the norm.
America wouldnt have got past the drawing board in 1961 if the Armstrongs, Liebergots and Aarons of the day had spent their teenage years watching this kind of pap.
Of course plenty do watch it and recognise it for what it is, and I'm certainly not one for censorship. The sad thing is that there are so many people glued to it.

Lets just say you wanted someone dead but you either didn't have the bottle to do it yourself or you dont want to get caught, end up in prison etc.
Well now what you could do is convince someone to come to your home, feed them, keep them happy and warm but ensure this love island is on all day and night on loop for a couple of days. By the end of it you just say who you want dead, they will go off and do it.

It’s trash tv but many enjoy watching.
You sound like a bundle of laughs.
