I’ve just heard the McDonald’s ad with the whistle at the end. Again.

I feel sure the whistle was meant, by now, have become widely copied and a “catchphrase” associated with the brand, a bit like “should have gone to Specsavers”

But does anyone actually do it?

I don't "do" it but knew exactly what you meant so I guess that means it works

My business partner and I have been friends since school. When I learned to drive we’d spend evenings cruising around for hours inevitably ending up at a Golden Arches somewhere.

Now we’re six figured PBCD’s it’s obviously way too council for us! Except every now and then one will ask ‘where are we having lunch’ and the other will reply ‘do do do doot do’ and we’re back to being care free teenagers again.

I always whistle along at the end of the ad.

I'm not proud.

The composer who thought up the 5 note motif will be a zillionaire by now.

Myself and 2 friends ended up on our own whilst in Bratislava on a stag do. We jumped in a taxi to head to McDonald's as that's where our friends were.
The driver didn't speak any English and had no idea where we wanted to go until one of us did the whistle. He knew straight away and took us there, so it is well recognized.
Would have been great but he took us to the wrong one miles away from anywhere.

In the same way if ever I here someone utter 'Intel Pentium processor' (not so often these days!) I mentally add a 'da da da dahr'' in my head...
