20 minutes in and we're still on the fking adverts.

No wonder I don't visit the cinema often.

I'm grateful for them, I'm normally a punctual person but it seems that we're incapable of arriving at the Cinema in time for the film to begin and I'm forever saved by the adverts and trailers.

Think of the published time like a formal invite, "Arrival at 7 for 7.30" or similar

The adverts, sometimes, are the best bit of the film.

Who turns up at the advertised start time these days? There used to be a point before you booked a specific seat so you had to be early to get a good spot, but now it is irrelevant.

These days I don't even leave home until 10 minutes after the advertised start time as it only takes 10 minutes to drive there.

I think this parody was McDonald's best ever advert:

20 minutes after the advertised start time is my standard at Odeon, who typically do around 23 minutes of ads and trailers.

As long as you remember not to do it for special or preview screenings you will never get caught out as they are extremely consistent with their timings.

I have done the cinema every single week for years now - we always get exactly 30 mins of adds.

We arrive at the "start time", or just after (always with tickets from online to gurantee the same seats every visit!) and after getting a costa we go sit down with 5 mins to spare. Easy.
