New lives in the wild?

Surprised there doesn't appear to be a thread about it, quite enjoying it, the inventor bloke last night was nuts!

I would happily watch him take a long walk from a short pier. I like the idea of the program but he is one of those people I cannot watch on screen without changing channel immediately.

He's one of the only celebrities I've ever met.

Don't watch much of his stuff though.

Great thread title OP - I have visions of you in camo gear, with a thermos of coffee and binoculars, hidden in Ben Fogle's garden somewhere.

The whole point of it was that nobody could see me.

Was it a glint of light off the bino's? hehe

I watched the episode (as a recording of last Wednesday's episode) featuring the former Croatian elite athlete trainer, Nikola Boric.

https://internewscast.com/man-who-lives-in-the-mid...

I have to say this was one of the best episodes ever from my perspective. Nikola was exceptionally humble, very likable and wasn't on a mission to convince anyone else. Very grounded. Such a likable person.

Although why Ben had to keep suggesting he had something to hide, or that was more to him, was just grating.

Yes, but despite suggestions to the contrary, she hasn't stopped working. After a 2 year break 2012-2014, she's pretty much as prolific as before.

Therefore somebody looks after her farm when she's not there. Someone was being disingenuous, I suggest.

Haven't watched the latest ep but I like the show ... it's a nice, light-touch documentary of people living in relatively unusual places often with alternative lifestyles.

Ben is not going to be go down in history as one of the great documentary-ists of all time but he does a decent job of unpeeling the characters in each show without being too overbearing. One of the few programmes I bother to watch off of mainstream TV and put up with the ads on the catchup site.

Anyone remember 'Castaway'? It's where he first got on TV. The BBC put a bunch of people on a remote Scottish Island for a year(?) to form a community and he was one of them. That was pretty interesting, watching how personalities clashed and the community developed. Unlike a lot of more modern shows in the same ilk, it didn't seem to be set up to fail and create massive personality clash drama (although there was some by the end).

I watched that. It was one of the first of the "modern" reality shows and did try to take it slowly and actually learn something about people and communities.
