Getting rid of Sky
Discussion
I don't think there's anything that can't be bought on PAYG subscription. I stopped Sky and went Freesat a year ago.
The only issue I've found is that my Humax HDR interface/scheduler is clunkier than the Sky box's, and not half as reliable when set for recordings.
You will also need to find a way of gaining access to 4OD because Freesat and C4 seem to have fallen out. But most Smart TVs will let you get to 4OD.

After years of sky and Virgin, when we moved we bought a Freesat box and streamed anything we wanted. The only issue I've found is that my Humax HDR interface/scheduler is clunkier than the Sky box's, and not half as reliable when set for recordings.

Still do this and have a roku box which has everything we need, Netflix, Amazon prime, Now TV, you tube, Spotify. BBC, ITV, C4 etc
Brilliant. A really handy feature is plugging headphones in to my phone and streaming to my TV for picture and sound to my phone when on my noisy exercise bike.
It really winds me up, the mrs insist on having it when all i seem to watch is the same few episodes of only fools.
Sometimes i think oh ill watch a film, have a search and generally anything decent is sky store for something like £12 to buy it or £3/4 to rent.
i think they are seriously on borrowed time and are extracting every penny out of the people who use it.

I'm finding that browsing the TV guide on my phone and setting recordings from there actually feels more intuitive. We stream most things via the Chromecast anyway. Live TV is more of a backup these days!
