Some shows do make some excellent long-running gags in them, what are your favourites?

For me - I like the "Threat Level Midnight" gags which run through The Office (US) and make a few comebacks every so often, with the episode which then culminates in them showing the "whole movie"

Archer's "phrasing" gag doesn't wear thin and also is happily useable in daily life. Similarly, my buddy's missus is called Alannah and he quite enjoys the "LANA" shouting gag.

'You stupid boy!'

'Are you awfully sure that's wise Sir?'

'Well done Wilson, I wondered who would be the first to spot that.'

The TV series has been showing on the BBC pretty much constantly since 1968.

i was thinking more gags/jokes than just one liners but the thread doesn't usually follow the ways of the OP!

My favourite offshoot from that was when they got David Hyde Pierce to voice Sideshow Bob's brother Cecil in The Simpsons, Bob of course voiced by Kelsey Grammar, and they had Cecil respond with "Maris?" to a line.

Not that long running but I always liked Father Ted ringing up Father Larry duff always at the wrong time usually ending his his violent death. They were killing off Larry years before South Park killed Kenny.
