Not sure who thought this was a good idea, but they seem to have destroyed the original Christmas story.

Probably not going to go down as an iconic interpretation tbh.

Smiler.

They've turned it into Eastenders.

I liked the way they added some horror elements butI rather thought the inclusion of the pedo schoolmaster and Scrooge turning into Harvey Weinstein was a step too far, and I haven't even seen the last one yet.

They should have just shown the muppet version. Proper adaptation.

I loved it. Hated it after 10 minutes but stuck with it and glad I did. My only gripe, mumbling dialogue. End up putting on subtitles.

I find it hard not to love anything Guy Pearce turns his hand to, great actor.

Totally agree with that. He had me hooked after LA Confidential.

I agree (including the mumbling). For me, there would have been no point simply acting out the original story again.

Wasn't too sure about it after the first episode but stuck withnit as it was only 3 episodes and I'm really glad I did as I thought it just got better and better. I have to agree Guy Pearce's performance made it.

Normally loathe costume dramas, but really liked this. Just got the last one to watch.

Not a bad adaptation. I thought Andy Serkis was excellent.

Watched the 1st 2 episodes last night, enjoying it which is surprising as I'm not usually into stuff like this.
As for those complaining of mumbling it's fine with a surround sound with the volume up to 11 smile

I thought it was rather good. Very dark at times but it was written by the chap behind Peaky Blinders and Tom Hardy was one of the producers.

yes It's an almost perfect recreation of the Dickens story, just wonderful!

The Alistair Sim one is on at the mo, my second favourite thumbup

The Muppets version is one of the best Christmas films of all time (just behind Die Hard).

However the Beeb's new version was also very good. Not faithful, not comfortable viewing, but different in a good way.

Very imaginative, wonderful re-working of a classic tale. Brilliantly understated portrayal of Scrooge. Absolutely loved it!

Caught the first episode on catch up. I thought it was great. Looking forward to the rest.

Nice and dark for me with a hint of dark.

IMO, the first episode was the worst of the three, so you are in for a treat smile

This was great and a real change from the simplistic efforts done so far which have become a cozy warm treat for people.
It was probably uncomfortable viewing for vast swaths of the uk population.
