Salvage Hunters Classic cars
Discussion
I didn't watch it but a mate mentioned it earlier. Something about a Fiat 500 that had been stored for about 5 years after failing its last MOT for various reasons one of which was pretty serious corrosion. Then matey boy says they don't need to worry too much about that because, while it was off the road / not running, it had now qualified for the rolling historic status and was MOT exempt?
Not the best impression to give out to the general viewing public about MOT exemptions / condition of cars - if that was the case.

What was the word sign written on the dash of the 500 ?
I tried it in a translation site and can't get an answer.
Sprezzatura ...Or something similar ??
Was it a coincidence that Goblin garage did a 500 in the programme immediately before last night's Drew fest ?
I actually preferred what Goblin did over what Salvage hunters did, apart from the neon sign and overly large fake Alitalia graphics.
I didn't think the Abarth copy wheels suited the black standard body car.

It was something like that, the signwriter was talking about what it meant. I tried it in a translation site and can't get an answer.

Where do I even start about tonight's BS ?
They just lied to the 944 seller.
"Needs £1000 to put it right"
So he offers £1500 less than asking price .
Spent £1800 on it,including about £1500 on wheels and refurbished of them.
That leaves £300 on a tiny dent and some interior trim.
Blokes a crook.

Seller didn’t have to accept the low offer but like many here I think these sales are pre agreed after someone from the crew has inspected the car. They just lied to the 944 seller.

I have to say DP really doesn’t come across well in this series. I think in the antiques programme there is the combination of him having an old mate (Tee) he clearly has a chemistry with, and, despite his questionable taste in renovating chairs (the upholstery he chooses mainly), he is clearly an expert in that field.
Conversely in the car programme the chemistry with the other guy feels awkward and his knowledge and taste clearly don’t transfer to well.

I saw the episode when they did a '84 2.0S Capri and Pritchard lambasted his mate for getting the 'wrong' front seats.
He then spouted complete grellecks about the seats that an 84 S should have and bought the 'proper' ones.
These too were wrong but Pritchard was so self righteous I doubt it was worth explaining to him.
Utter drivel and immensely annoying.
I saw a bit of the 944 episode and clocked the satin black centered Fuch alloys.
Colour scheme was right but I don't think they were the correct style of Fuch for that 944 ?

Yes. I know a couple who sold a car to Wheeler Dealers many moons ago and I gather the deal was done by a researcher over the phone, for asking price iirc, and then MB turned up to film the haggle. Thought it was nonsense. Early 944 gad those wheels as an option (cookie cutters were standard). By the late 80s, the 944 offered those teledials, Design90 or CS wheels.
..and that nonsense with the range rover, for the sake of some weathered stickers. And its overpriced. Drew comes accross as greedy on this show

He thought knocking 25% of the RR asking price acceptable just because he couldn't drive it.
Agreed with above, respray whole car except tailgate because of 2 cheap tourist stickers and bonnet edge to keep original RR decal.
Ridiculous !
I bet you can see non paint match on bonnet already.
