Have been with Sky for well over a decade and and have Multiroom and Sky Q, which I really like.
BT Contract is due to end in about 6 months, but they are pushing me to extend now as their January Sale is on.
WAS planning to ditch BT and go all in with Sky, as the main thing I watch, with the exception of movies, and the occassional bit of TV is the F1, just been told by BT that they will be getting F1 imminently, certainly before Australia.
Definitely going to go one way or the other, anyone switched from Sky to BT, will I be losing anything major? Apparently they have a box similar to Sky Q, is it any good?

Only ever been with BT but their TV box is good, if you get a good speed suitable for 4K, then the 4k is very good quality on the sports. Sod all else in 4k apart from one or two TV series that are naff. They sell films and stuff on 1080 and you can get an app to access them when you leave BT.
They are now using 4k HDR but that is not via the box, they do 1080 HDR10 but that is through the app along with the 4k version.
e.g. I use the TV app on the apple TV for access most stuff through that though my HDR10 will not work for some reason. Dolby Atmos via the Set top box. The way all that is cobbled together is a right mess. Though rumours of a new box that will bring it all under a single point. I only use the box for the 4k (non HDR10).
Prices are on the up all time as an existing customer, I am off as soon as I can because of that and they are now trying to tie me into a 24 month contract. Fed up of seeing great deals for new customers and getting subs increased (bugger off if you don't like it attitude).
Didn't know BT were getting F1, porkies from a telesales?

Cheers, not sure about telesales telling porkies, nothing obvious online, which you would expect, maybe they will push it nearer the season opener. They are now using 4k HDR but that is not via the box, they do 1080 HDR10 but that is through the app along with the 4k version.

Another question, do Sky use the BT infrastructure? I currently get just over 50mb, but according to the Sky site, I can expect between 2.5 and 37.
I can live with the top end of that, but 2.5 is a deal breaker for me.

Any up coming sports gains will be announced by the BT press office (or at least should be), they don't drip feed it through the usual suspects in an office. There is usually a lot of money riding on such deals. The footy gain, no one saw it coming (that was kept quiet!). Certainly be sure before you make a choice, I thought Sky had signed exclusive rights in 2019 (edit. To show F1 outside the UK in the UK)? Not sure how long for, not my cup of tea.Another question, do Sky use the BT infrastructure? I currently get just over 50mb, but according to the Sky site, I can expect between 2.5 and 37.

Cannot comment on what Sky uses for infrastructure, I expect that you may get an openreach engineer if you reported a sky line fault in many area's? One of the things Murdoch was always upset at.
Edit. What I forgot is what services BT sell through Sky and vice versa. I don't use sky, maybe BT meant they will be selling the Sky service carrying that.

I went from Sky to BT. One reason was that two of my kids got married one year, and we had other outgoings planned. Sky were reluctant to drop to BT prices, even for a year, so I left.
I've not regretted it at all. I went with BT sport for their rugby. I missed F1, but that was all. The service has been excellent. I'm on their fast fibre, I don't know if that makes a difference.
I used to upload hefty videos for my rugby club, and needed something fast. Their fibre was a revolution. I'm on EE as well. The BT hotspots (whatever they are called) are very useful as well.
If BT is getting F1 then I'm in clover.
