Could be a viable alternative to Radio 4, free from all the preachiness!

interesting - they currently sponsor Julia HB on Talk Radio for her breakfast show. Is that their idea of testing the waters?

talkSPORT, Talk Radio and the new Times Radio are all the same company, ultimately Rupert Murdock's News Corp. They are all based and transmit out of the same location next to the Shard.

I find the morning slot on Talk with JHB a shade less far right than Katie Hopkins, just enough to be able to be broadcast.
If you want to hear what the far right are going to bash on about, listen to Talk radio in the mornings. I expect Rup will push the same agenda here.

Not at all, it's going to be a far more sophisticated brand of right wing rubbish. It'll appeal to the more discerning fascist.

don't mind JHB but my station of choice for the commute is LBC with Nick Ferrari

I prefer JHB on Have I Got News For You, with the sound off, and it paused at various points.

The Times are incapable of creating an app that actually works, despite expecting people to pay for it, so I have my doubts regarding their ability to create and run a radio station.

Sounds a bit like LBC news radio , an offshoot of LBC Radio
I have taken to Talk Radio lately , early mornings one trick pony Steve Allen is rubbish .so James Max is my preferred listening . then back to LBC for NF , as JHB makes my ears bleed , then back to Talk for Mike Graham as again a one trick pony JOB , makes me want to throw radio out the window ,
In General I find Talk Radio a better listen .So and extra choice will be interesting , although it will only dilute the listening pool

I think the idea is it's going to be more news and long form stuff on current affairs, as opposed to phone-ins.

So like Radio 4 but hopefully without all the banging on about identity politics with any luck.

But fear not, Zirconia, it'll still be "far right". rofl

Times Radio launched at 6am. Not "far right" so far. rofl

So far... it's a bit more Breakfast TV on the radio than the Today Programme.

But Radio 4 has been driving me mad since I came back from furlough, so I'm going to give it a chance.

Hmmm.

So far an unhealthy obsession with football, because "we all love football" apparently.

What frequency is it?

Or is it not as simple as that?

DAB or from here:

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/radio/live

If you have a phone you can download an app. I've done that and listen to it in my van via Bluetooth.

I don't normally listen to the radio on my phone.

I have had a fiddle with my DAB radio, but I can't see Times Radio on the list of stations. Do I need DAB+?

EDIT!

Cracked it! Don't know how, but after several times of trying, 'Times Radio' suddenly popped up and I grabbed it.

It appears to be pitching itself against the BBC5Live morning show.
