When a franchise should have called it a day
Discussion
I watched a youtube video about how the Die Hard films turned to s
t over the years (but still made money, a 6th was on the way before the MOuse HOuse took over), and Alien was mentioned as a film that would be much better as a stand alone, sequels detract from it.
So I thought, thread! Where I would stop franchises, not choosing current ones as even a franchise that has turn to crud can still surprise and recover old ground, Rambo post Rambo III and Rocky Balboa post Rocky IV, I'm looking at you.
So;
tshow the production had turned into, that might have been when I became really interested in how films are put together. I actually also like Alien Resurrection, but it's not needed. From there on, turds. although AVP is fun though moronic
te from there on. Not seen the latest...I'd had enough of wasting my money on franchises that should have died years ago for that.
what are yours?

So;
- Die Hard
- Die Hard 2: Die Harder
- ALIEN
- ALIENS

- The Terminator
- Terminator 2: Judgment Day
- Predator

- Star Wars
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return of the Jedi
- Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure...let it go, Indiana...let it go.
what are yours?

Beverly Hills Cop.
I wondered about that one, I can tell you the story of the first, who was in the second, and I can remember one scene from the third and that it was purposely changed in direction, like the Lethal Weapon weapon series.I think I'd need to watch 2&3 to decide.

Found both "cowboys v aliens" and terminator (4?) dire.
Mind I'm find most action movies pretty shonky these days - its like they can't make a good honest yarn any more, every action movie just seems preposterous, overblown cgi and no sympathetic character portrayal, maybe its more a case of that than just tired franchises as such.

Indiana Jones - should never have made the 4th one.
I thought about that one, but since it's an ongoing franchise, if they make 5 and it's amazing, I can Teddy Lop said:

Why mention Cowboys and Aliens?
