Now that those of us who subscribe to the sports channels are not going to be seeing any live sport for the foreseeable future, would it not be a gesture from sky to suspend their monthly charge until such a time live sport resumes? I'm not holding my breath.

Just about to start a thread on exactly the same query as I've just renegotiated my contract with them. Seeing that the bulk of what I watch is either F1 or football ,I'm now paying for something they can't deliver. Sure there will be some small print that gives them the ability to declare MBOC but at least a reduction in the subscription would be nice.

SKY always seem open to negotiation. I had a notification last week of a £6 hike in my monthly subscription. 20 mins to get through them but worthwhile as after 15 mins of bartering and threatening to cancel etc I ended up with a £13 discount.

So it's worth a phone call . Wouldn't hope for too much on a spontaneous "moral" basis - Murdoch and Morals may both start with the same letter but have little else in common.....

The Murdochs haven’t owned Sky for a couple of years!

Quote from Skysports site: Sky Sports is working closely with all our partners to better understand the impact on the annual sporting calendar. We recognise that it is a fast-moving situation and we are working at speed to ensure we continue to deliver for all of our customers.

My contract is loaded so they can claim I'm only paying a couple of quid a month for sports but any gesture whilst they can't 'deliver' such as suspension would be good (and would free up their phone lines)

I’ve just tried to cancel my modest subscription as a result of their last price increase and the realisation that I would easily get by with netflix etc. (I’m out of contract) but it is understandably impossible to get through. The only option I have is to write to them but I suspect that might a fruitless task....!

If you have a job that makes it practical just log into live chat bang on 9am tomorrow, it'll probably take a few hours to sort but you can just leave it running in the background.

I've done it a few times, they can do everything via live chat, cancel, adjust contracts, upgrade, downgrade etc.

I usually time my Sports sub to go off just as the Prem finishes. I can see this pushing it back at least a couple of months while I am paying £££ for endless Premier League Years and Gary Neville meets repeats.

Why can't you log into your bank online and cancel direct debits and standing orders at the bank?

If you have, or can get, the ‘My Sky’ app, you can pause it there. Just took me 30 seconds.

Thanks for posting this. I couldn’t bring myself to sit on the phone for ages to pause it.

Same here - had to run through the PAUSE button > 'Page Unavailable' > 'Go Back' cycle a few times but it did accept the request in the end.

I couldn't find it within the app. Where about is it?

I found it eventually. Go to the Help page within the app, then My Account, then Account and subscription, Changing my subscription, Changing my Sky package, then its at the bottom.
It just appears to open a browser window to the same link anyway!

Shame Sky aren't doing this automatically (but I suspect I know the answer).
