How have I not seen or known about this???

Funniest thing I've seen in a very long time.

"They taught a monkey sign language and after six months it was banging on about how they left its kids in the jungle."

Almost a Trailer Park Boys for the UK market.

Compulsive viewing in our house.

I’m amazed more people don’t know about it.

Favourite character is “Big Mandy”.

I live in a Cotswold village and can confirm it is bang on accurate.

I live further south (Somerset/Devon border) and it certainly rings true with me.

Gave it a go a while back as it seemed to be right up my street. However, I found it too close to The Office for comfort; even the lead male role looked and sounded so much like Gareth it was uncanny.

To be fair Ricky Gervais' own follow-up to The Office fell into the same trap... can't remember the title, not Extras but a series featuring Warwick Davies.

Maybe I'll give This Country another try thanks to the recommendations on here smile

Having lived in a villiage we can totally relate to it.

This latest series is still on form. hehe

The tattoo episode was fantastic

Really is a shame they are calling it a day at the end of this (3rd) series - I still think there is mileage in it. There have been some absolute jems in the 2nd & 3rd.

Our village equivalent of Kerry heard that you could get £200 if you shopped a benefit cheat.

So she shopped her husband.

I really enjoy this, however, this third series has lost it a little bit IMO.

Just watched all three series of this and loved it. Even series three had some moments of excellence

Most of the funniest moments for me aren't in the script but the faces people pull at the camera - amazing.

Exceptions for "Egg in a dog collar" or any of the insults between brother and sister that they've clearly been saying to each other their whole lives

Well worth binging while we're locked inside

The Fred West joke was funny with her father, agreed it is so funny, shame the character with Cancer actually died of cancer hence the end of the show.

The dad is a great character - although horrible in the show, he's a great guy in real life and does a lot with mental heath concerns.

I don't think 'Slugs' passing away was the reason for the end - he was just one of their mates and had battled with his health most of his life.

... it is strangely addictive viewing - think I'm on about the third viewing now. Thank Lock-down.

Yeah i have rewatched several times it is almost like the countryside version of people just do nothing. I do remeber an interview that one of the big reasons for ending was because the actor who played Slugs had passed.

I grew up in darkest Hertfordshire and This Country rang very true for me - in particular the character of Martin Mucklowe is really reminiscent of various local characters who become 'legends' by dint of going to the boozer every day and talking bks. The episode where Kurtan gets a job with Martin is hilarious, even if I did get flashbacks to when I used to labour for knobheads just like that!

Watched it once, never again, puerile tosh.

Wonder how they pitched it to the BBC comedy unit,

a mockumentary [ yawn ], two inbred idiots, one fat one skinny, talking inane piffle in a funny regional accent.

Er, that's it.

Just binged all 3 series

A great mix of the Office, Vicky Pollard and Undateables imo

I think my favourite character was Kurtan in the end, though Kerry’s mum Sue was fantastic
