The Last Dance

Anyone watching this? Its the story of the Chicago Bulls 1998 season. Really well made documentary giving a real insight into how some of the great basketball players and teams worked. I'm not into basketball at all but I am finding it a really interesting watch.

Watched the first 2 last week - Michael Jordan was my hero as a kid and I was at the game in Paris!
My sporting hero too. And GOAT.Never got to watch him play live but went to the McDonalds’ tournament at London Docklands in 1996(?) and watched the Houston Rockets, with Clyde Drexler, Kenny Smith, Robert Horry, Sam Cassell etc. Hakeem was injured and didn’t play.
Yep, of course I'm watching this, as a massive MJ fan [and Scottie].
Really like how they are flashing between the 98 season and the history of the players...I never knew Pippen was so 'under-paid'!
It is making me want to play basketball again though [especially the MJ montage in the last episode, watching all the highlight I remember as a teen]. Damn stupid ACL injury, robbing me on at least another 5 years of playing

I went to that game too, with my older sister (I was 11) .. I lost my ticket somewhere outside but cried to a security guy at the gate and he took pity on me and let me in (my sister had her ticket)... It was a great experience despite Hakeem not playing which I was a little disappointed about at the time.Never got to watch him play live but went to the McDonalds’ tournament at London Docklands in 1996(?) and watched the Houston Rockets, with Clyde Drexler, Kenny Smith, Robert Horry, Sam Cassell etc. Hakeem was injured and didn’t play.
Have since seen the Bulls play at the United Center (2004 so long after the glory days) and the Knicks at Madison Garden too.
Loving the Last Dance, another captivating Netflix doc about one of my favourite topics. Jordan really is the greatest of all time, what a master!

Ha ha. Good story.Have since seen the Bulls play at the United Center (2004 so long after the glory days) and the Knicks at Madison Garden too.
I remember Clyde put on a show, and Kenny Smith dunking during warm-up. I had no idea Kenny could jump like that; at the time I didn’t know Kenny had participated at the Dunk Contest previously. (pre-internet / Youtube)

I watched Washington vs Boston at a playoffs game a few years ago when visiting DC...... my only other NBA game live.
Caught up on 3 and 4 last night - Phil Jackson is an interesting (genius) character! Didn't realise the triangle wasn't his invention!
We lived in Houston for a few years and I got to see the rockets play a few times at the Toyota centre - good times!
Haven't followed the NBA in over a decade though

Watched the latest eps last night. I would NOT want to cross Patrick Ewing - he looks like a scary dude.
Brilliantly constructed documentary. If a documentary is well made the actual subject shouldn't really matter. I really have zero interest in basketball but this is so well researched and they seem to have all the main protagonists interviewed, the have loads of footage. Its so well made the story draws you in.
You forget what a gilded cage MJ lived/lives in - a gift from the gods to play like that (as well as huge determination, drive and hard work) and huge money but when that guy was taking you through his average day....

An important point to remember when watching this - one of the co-producers of the series (not mentioned in the credits) is Jordan's own production company, so take the show with a grain of salt. Still enjoy it (as I am), but know, like most of these types of shows, it won't present all sides of the story.

Loved every episode. A rare breed of sportsman. The GOAT.
There's a great quote in episode 1, I think, something along the lines of "Michael was better at his job than anyone else has ever been at theirs" - sums up how good he really was and how he is remembered.I have binge watched this over the last few days and can’t wait for the final two episodes on Monday.
What comes across for me is MJ’s total dedication to winning and his constant battle to get his teammates up to his level of dedication.
That 95-96 Bulls team was awesome. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Golden State Warriors went onto beat the record and were coached by Steve Kerr who was in that Bulls team!
