Jeremy Clarckson throwed a Peugeot badge in a bucket full of
Discussion
...poo...
I'm trying to find which episode of Top Gear was this. I think he was a bit annoyed by the fact that Peugeot would not send them a car for an official review, and he toke it to a new whole level by throwing the badge into a bucket full of horse poo.
Edit to myself: he didn't, he never throwed the badge. He replaced the Peugeot 806 with a bucket of manure, but never threw the badge on it. My memories were a bit off after 15 years.
I'm writting a little piece for a marketing course about the evolution (if any) in the perception of the Peugeot brand in UK, and I consider this as an example of bad reputation in media. But I can't find the episode.
If someone remembers at least what series was this, it would help me to track down the episode, so I can refrence it properly.
Thanks in advance!

I don't remember Clarkson ever throwing a Peugeot badge in a bucket of crap, so I can't give you a definitely answer - but I do know that Series 22 Episode 5 is where they did a segment taking the mick out of Peugeot and the type of people who drive them so I can only assume that the clip you're thinking of is in that segment.
FYI, that episode is available to stream on Netflix if you have it and that segment starts around the 41:25 mark and the remaining 20 minutes of the episode is about the brand. It was such a dreadful piece I remember turning it off halfway through when it originally aired. Utterly stupid television.

Hypothesis for your next essay: Clarkson single handedly created the demise of once proud brands such as Peugeot, Vauxhall and Rover. Now everyone wants a German car and only buys other stuff if they are skint or totally indifferent.
Probably an element of truth in that.Which is great for anyone who fancies a 306 or 75.

Yes, he did. Even Ben Collins refered to it in an article when Clarckson got no-sacked from BBC.Edited by TREMAiNE on Friday 29th May 12:24

Peugeot once raised two fingers to the dragon boat after receiving a negative review and refused to provide a car for the studio piece. The producers had to replace it with... something. Lights… Camera… Action… The camera swivelled to reveal a bucket of horse manure. You simply couldn’t get away with that on any other show.

So much so you know exactly where it is. It was silly but I found it amusing and ignoring the silly bit it was a reality. Peugeot were amazing and in the years gone by they made some of the best cars. Then for some reason they didn't and their cars were dreadful. The worse they became the more they appealed to the hat wearing brigade who are unable to drive. It's a shame they trashed their reputation for a while as they are making some of the best looking cars on the road right now. With designs converging due to regulations they are still managing to mark themselves out as different and genuinely stylish. The 408 and 508 in particular have presence when you see them on the road next to all the other blandmobiles.

years ago I bought a 306 xsi when they were new, many many bits fell off it, the passive rear steering was a weird addition to it, if the build quality wasn't garbage it would have been a good car. would never touch peugeot again although i would say they have somehow figured out something with their paints that make them so vibrant vs every other car, you see that new hatchback in blue particularly or the red it really looks a good colour

Mine was an N reg car and 3 or 4 years old when I got it. Nothing fell off it, and the interior quality was a massive jump from their previous generation of cars. I loved the way it handled. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
