Been going through a few old VHS recordings to digitise, and on one tape there's a recording of Paul Ross interviewing Bill Maynard (Heartbeat and Selwyn Froggit fame) sometime in the mid-late 90s (before 2000 I would say). The title of the programme wasn't recorded just the interview itself, so I've no idea what the show was called, but I presume it called "The Paul Ross Show". The only thing I can find from doing a search was a show he did on The Family Channel titled "The Very Famous Paul Ross Show". On imdb the show is listed but none of the guests include Bill Maynard, and there's no mention of any other episodes or series. On Bill Maynard's imdb page there's no mention of him of this show. I know he's done several breakfast interviews over the years on GMTV, but none are listed on imdb.

I don't think the show I mentioned was called The Very Famous Paul Ross Show considering it was broadcast on the Family Channel, as I don't think we had that channel. I'm pretty sure it was a daytime show aired in the afternoon, possibly either BBC2 or ITV. On Ross's wikipedia page, there's mention of a Paul Ross Show aired on ITV, but says it was a late night show.

The set does look like it came from Breakfast telly.

Well.... that's dead easy to work out.

Let's teach a man to fish.

What year did Heartbeat start showing? ( Google is your friend )

The first lady in the audience stated how long Bill has been playing Greengrass in Heartbeat ( How many years? )

Add them both together and you have your answer.

1999 probably. It was only a year before he left Heartbeat. I always thought it was much earlier. Still can't find any mention of this show. Why is imdb so lacking in bio and show information?.

Interview appearances are bit off-topic for IMDB, aren't they, especially if it's a segment in another show? I can't say I've looked, but I imagine if you bring up any actor, it doesn't list everything they appear in aside from credited roles. For a completist it'd be interesting, but I've tried to do that for one musical artist and however complete you think you've got it, someone will go "what about this one"?

I checked out the BBC Genome site to find any mention of Bill Maynard having appeared in interviews between 1998-2000, but nothing came up. Searched Paul Ross using the Advance settings and there's a number of chat show type shows he presented or co-presented around that time, one is Lowri and the other is DailyLive. Both have guest celebs on. Of course it mayve not been a BBC channel, but I don't think the interview is from Cable or SKY as a logo would've been displayed on screen. Channel 5 has always had a logo so it can't be that either, and C5s picture at that time was very grainy before the switch to digital.

It's probably Dailylive.

There was a kids show I remember seeing on CITV in the late 90s presented by Chris Packham called "The Great Dinosaur Hunt", and that isnt listed on imdb under Packham's imdb page. So it's not just morning breakfast or daytime chat interviews that aren't listed.

Edit:

Just found this interview with Brian May in 1998 with Paul Ross and the studio layout and background looks the same as the Bill Maynard interview.

So it's Daily Live. I wonder why there's no mention of the interview on the BBC Genome site. The recording I have must've started part way through if the guests walk into the show, so I suspect I must've been unawares he was going to appear, otherwise it would've been complete. I have other interviews with Bill Maynard on GMTV during his Heartbeat years, will upload them sometime if there's no hissy fit from YouTube over copyright.
