Hitler's Supercars on C4

Horizon made a documentary called “Supercharged” in 1984, covering the Mercedes and Auto Unions of the 1930s It was very good and is available on You Tube.
Tonight’s programme was good. But why did they use extracts from the 1968 film “Battle of Britain” to depict Messerschmitt 109s? The film 109s are Hispano Buchons, powered by Rolls Royce Merlins,

the T80 at goodwood FOS in 2018... no bodywork as it wouldn't have fit in the shelter...

I found it a very interesting subject, but that chap's mannerisms and delivery was very off-putting. I wonder if he talks to his family like that.
He's well suited to an american reality TV show on Discovery or History.I found it incredible that they were using rear engined vehicles before the war, and it took F1 until the 60's to go back to them.

He was very irritating. He couldn't pronounce Rudolf Caracciola's name either, which made my teeth itch - he constantly pronouced it 'Carrikachola'.I very much enjoyed the programme apart from that. The brief slow motion footage of Rosemeyer on opposite lock was amazing.

They weren't even new in the 1930s - I found it incredible that they were using rear engined vehicles before the war, and it took F1 until the 60's to go back to them.

The principle and advantages of having a mid engined set up were pretty well understood. The problem was that the tyres, brakes, suspension etc weren't good enough to exploit the concept properly.

It's quite strange when you think about it. Flying Mercedes sports cars seems to be a bit of "a thing".
That was exactly my thought - One would seem unfortunate, two careless, so what does that make 3?!?!?Interesting programme on the whole, but would have been better without Routledge's bizarre delivery...
