I’m a big fan of Upstart Crow, shame it gets lost in BBC2. IMO the best thing on TV so far this Christmas. Making the dreadful Vicar Of Dibley preachings from Dawn French look unbelievably lame in comparison. Ben Elton’s take on ‘The Plague’ and Lockdown is hilarious and a must watch.

I think the last time Ben Elton was funny was 1980.
I thought I would give the Lockdown episode a go but it was woefully obvious unfunny joke on unfunny joke so I binned it after 5 minutes.

Terrible.

I didn't read the blurb beforehand so thought it was going to be a full fat version (silly me). Was a bit disappointed as a result but not too bad.

Poor effort. Some of the early episodes were good but the latest one was just one tired parody of lockdown restrictions. David Mitchell can do so much better than this.

I watched a few of the early ones, but couldn't get into it. Just felt like watching a not-as-good version of Blackadder. Shame, as there's a lot of talent there.

I was in the virtual audience for the "recording" of this episode.

I have been in the virtual audience for the recording of several radio shows and greatly enjoyed them.

This was my first TV show and I remain uncertain whether I was watching the replay of a recording, or whether it was acted out in real time.
As there were no re-takes or camera transition errors I am pretty sure that it was a pre-recorded replay which we were watching.
I will stick to applying for tickets to radio shows in future.

I thought that the actors provided good performances, especially from "Kate", but the script was unsubtle and formulaic.

Blackadder only became funny when Richard Curtis stepped in.
Elton is a poor writer, look at We Will Rock You, an appalling travesty.

I think you mean, Blackadder only became funny when Ben Elton stepped in. Series 1 was written by Curtis and Atkinson, the remainder by Elton & Curtis.

I sit corrected.
He must have used up all his talent back then, in that case.
