This is a fav of mine...
have watched it many many times and think that Bridges played it to a Tee....
the very idea that a souped up orange and black mustang was tooling around the country with an alien in it....
The scene with the apple pie, vegas, the truck.... and the deer... damn it, what a brilliant film it was...

those marbles...

And that deer scene...
So so many great moments in that film

It's a stunning film with an excellent soundtrack. And its probably the only film that makes me cry.
"Let me come with you,"
"You can't. You will die,"
"I don't think I care,"
Even typing those lines brings a lump to my throat (although that might still be there following on from the news about Murray last night.)

Excellent film. Jeff Bridges is believably alien. Even the romance is touching.
The alien ship at the end must have been an early example of CGI.
It is probably the most mainstream John Carpenter film. Shows he could have had a career as a big budget Hollywood director. But then he probably wouldn’t have made They Live or In The Mouth of Madness.

Yes, totally brilliant film. I've watched it so many times and just love the 1980's vibe and the way it pokes it's nose into small town Americana and the characters encountered along the way. I love the scene with the deer and the brief encounter with the Chef when he's on the road alone. The dialog is superb.
I also had a massive crush on Karen Allen after seeing her in Animal House and then Starman......
