Haven't posted this in the main thread as I don't want to potentially see spoilers without asking my question first!

Never really got into LoD, but everyone raves about it so I ought to give it a go. My question is, do I need to start from Series 1/Episode 1, or is each series discrete, albeit with some of the same characters?

Ta.

Start from the beginning mate, it's very much worth it.

You need to watch the lot and will enjoy it hugely more doing it this way. You'd probably benefit from watching each series twice as well to help piece the bits together.

Watching from the start helps make sense of later series as they reference back to previous series.

S1 E1 and go all the way through you’ll do it in a week.

Very enjoyable.

As above, start from the beginning. The back references and story lines in later series will make more sense.

Just a footnote.... It's the journey, not the arrival.

Wife went on at me to watch the latest series, haven't watched any previous.
It's difficult to follow, can't understand the characters at times and the acronyms are FCM
Oh and some of the acting is ste. makes Gina McKee look good!

Gina McKee isn't in LOD BTW she's just a wooden actor

Needs to be started from Series 1 Episode 1. Things that happen in that episode are still extremely relevant to what is going on in series 6 and probably beyond.....

And Gina McKee was in Line of Duty, unless I’m missing a joke there.

It’s a bit like asking should you only watch the last series of game of thrones or watch them all (and enjoy battle of the bds).

And watch it with the subtitles on. Helps you to avoid missing out on important details.

My wfe went on at me too. She'd watched S1 so I started S2 with her. We're most of the way through S3 now and I have to say I'm not really seeing what all the fuss is about. I found the first ep of S2 almost unwatchable because of the bizarre camera work and editing. Thankfully they stopped doing that soon after, obv realised themselves it wasn't working phew.

I think it could be a Jed Mercurio thing why I'm not enjoying it, the Bodyguard ended up leaving a huge number of questions frustratingly not remotely answered, and I'm getting the same feeling with LoD. Every ep just seems to create more and more doubt to the point where you don't know wtf is going on. That's maybe the idea but then it also risks losing people because they just don't care. They've lost me, I'm out. Given how many people are watching this I'm obv missing something but hey ho.
