I thought it was decent Sunday night disposable TV, although packed full of TV detective tropes - the dark past, the oddball, an alcoholic detective, the will-they-wont-they love angle (x2), the "dreaming spires" of Oxford Cambridge.
It was refreshing to see it as an hour long episode, rather than stretched out over 2 hours as is the ITV style. This gave it a bit more 'pep'
To be honest I didn't question the logic behind him 'knowing' she was having an affair, I don't think it's going to be the kind of show that warrants in depth problem solving
