Thought this was worth a punt for £1 for a month. Downloaded the player app and it looked crap on the PC.

Read the small print apparently I need .... NOWTV BOOST !!!

Full HD: Watch all the Sky Sports channels, plus selected shows and movies, in 1080p video quality instead of the usual 720p.

For only a fiver extra ! Full 1080p ! On some stuff .....

It was worth a quid for the laugh !

Yep, it's a stupid product offering. Maybe it made sense 5-10 years ago, but not now, and it's only been around a year or two.

Stupid pricing aside, I'm a big fan of NowTV. For £13 a month I get all the premium sky stuff without a dish and whatever it costs a month. You can save a lot by buying vouchers on eBay apparently, but life's a bit too short for that.

One thing I have noticed is that Boost is being promoted as 'Ad Free' NowTV has always been ad free, well unless you're watching live, so I guess they'll be forced ads on people without it now.

Still, it's supposedly due for the chop altogether soon(ish) Sky is going "dishless" at some point and Sky Q and Now will be merged.

The only good things about Boost is if you have a tv bigger than 55inch it really improves tv quality and if you have multiple properties as it allows us more devices to be logged in.

Yeah, the most beneficial thing is the device numbers, so you can watch up to three devices simultaneously.

Me, my brother and my dad all watch live sport at the same time, so it works for us.

We used to do it before they put a device cap on with just one account, so the introduction of the 'Boost' option is probably partly my doing.

The boost stuff pisses me off - proper “nickel and diming” the customer. Next they’ll be charging us for the ability to pause and advance the timeline in a show.

I have a 50 inch 4K tv and to be honest I’ve never been disappointed with non boost F1 coverage - it’s not perfect but the fact F1 I broadcast in 4K, downscaled to Standard Def then upscaled by the TV I think helps it look fine. Never really considered upgrading for that reason
